Job Description:
Kansas City University has an opening for Groundskeeper, under the supervision of the manager of Building Services. The groundskeeper at KCU will maintain and care for University grounds, community garden and vehicles by mowing lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers and shrubs, removing snow, and assisting with special events.
Pay Starting at $17/hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the campus creates a favorable impression
- Prepares grounds for assigned activities
- Makes sure plants are free of disease and insects, applying chemicals as needed.
- Keeps the ground clear of debris
- Ensures grounds are clear and safe during inclement weather
- Monitors equipment for optimal performance, reporting malfunctions, breakages to the supervisor.
- Maintains KCU vehicles, washing cars, delivering cars for minor preventive maintenance services, taking vehicle in for repairs, performing detail cleaning
- Helps with office and department moves
- Assists with special events
- Contributes to the team effort by performing related duties as needed or assigned
Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
- One year of experience in groundskeeping preferred
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must be capable of operating and maintaining a variety of equipment used on grounds - including snow removal equipment
- Willing and available to work alternative hours as needed for season or special events
