Graphic Designer II Job at Portland Gear
Portland Gear is looking for a mid-level Graphic Designer to craft resonant work for our customers and community. The ideal candidate will be an experienced graphic artist with a proven ability to concept ideas from scratch. They’ll work in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced environment where collaboration and creativity is key. We move quickly and launch new collections almost every week which allows this position to design and create often and express their style. This position reports directly to our Senior Designer who’s been with the company since inception.
About us: Portland Gear is the premium supplier of wearable goods to Rep The Rose City. Started in 2014 from the @portland Instagram page, the brand has grown to multiple retail stores, notable collaborations and customers all over the world. Since inception Portland Gear has donated over $150,000 to non profits and charities within our beloved city.

Primary job functions are as follows:
- Develop creative concepts and design visual assets for our weekly apparel collection releases.
- Work with the digital marketing team on email campaigns, ads and all other collateral.
- Prep, structure, and deliver final files to external print and design partners.
- Ensure all designs are consistent with our brand guidelines.
- Edit and resize photos for websites, apps and other channels.
Education:
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
Experience:
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience working in a similar field or position
Experience working as part of a design studio or internal creative team
Compensation:
$50,000 - $60,000 salary dependent on work experience
Health and dental insurance available if needed
Key Skills:
- High technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
- A strong eye for aesthetics and visual details including typography, composition, and color
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across all levels of an organization
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to design and deliver graphic packages quickly, efficiently, and independently
- Knowledge of and affinity for Portland
- Illustration skills a plus
- Screen printing skills a plus
- Shopify skills a plus
