SUMMARY

Will assist the Communications team with ongoing promotion of TrueNorth Community Services programs, events and initiatives. Through design, branding and marketing efforts, this position is responsible for designing print collateral for various programs and services, and managing agency social media accounts. This position helps ensure TrueNorth is consistent in messaging and maintaining brand integrity and identity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design

  • Coordinate, create and produce a variety of TrueNorth publications and marketing collateral which may include brochures, newsletters, flyers, print ads, posters, direct mail, web graphics, templates, promotional materials and annual reports
  • Utilize skills to design communications for multiple purposes (digital, electronic and print media)
  • Design images for print publications and marketing materials for TrueNorth and its programs and services
  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines for TrueNorth and TrueNorth programs and affiliates
  • Create new ideas and concepts in relation to TrueNorth’s brand

Social Media

  • Manage agency social media accounts through content creation, post scheduling and monitoring of sites (facebook, twitter, youtube, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Assist with social media monitoring and posting of program social media accounts (ie. Facebook pages for CNH, Newaygo County Young Professionals, Ridge Catering, Volunteer Resource Center and Camp Newaygo, as well as Camp Newaygo’s Instagram accounts)
  • Produce monthly social media statistics for reporting purposes

Marketing/Branding

  • Co-develop and co-manage marketing media plan(s) for TrueNorth initiatives
  • Photograph TrueNorth programs, services and events for a comprehensive archive and for ongoing available images
  • Review and utilize data to inform marketing decisions and actions
  • Work with development team to provide consistent and relevant messaging to donors

Administration

  • Work closely with Communications team, staff, and/or external groups to determine project needs, objectives and most cost-effective solutions
  • Review and edit publication documents, alongside the Communications team, to ensure accurate finalized product
  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of design, marketing and branding and use this information to help TrueNorth operate with initiative and innovation
  • Maintain and update files of produced materials and projects, including design files and photo archive
  • Provide guidance to TrueNorth staff on marketing, communications and public relations
  • Act as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to organizational priorities

  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and complete a variety of projects in a timely and accurate manner to be evaluated through meeting deadlines, and responding to project requests in an appropriate manner
  • Possess a complete understanding of design to print process (how should completed files be received by the printer – including: high resolution photos, color for cmyk and spot breakdown, and font usage, etc.)
  • Have experience with marketing and branding

Work competencies include:

  • Excellent computer and technical skills related to design; such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop in a PC environment, experience working within a CMS, and a working knowledge of Google products
  • An ability to adapt to new developments in graphic design and publishing software
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • A high level of attention to detail; and good writing skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with self-motivation are required but can work with a team, as needed
  • The ability to problem solve
  • The ability to maintain participant and agency confidentiality

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Fine Arts or Communications, or relevant experience
  • Prior experience with Adobe Programs
  • Prior experience with nonprofits
