Global Mobility & Immigration Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Global Mobility and Immigration Specialist performs a wide variety of administrative activities within the Office of Human Resources. This includes supporting the sponsoring of visas, waivers, and other districts, domestic and international programs. Likewise, the Global Mobility and Immigration Specialist will handle regular and ad hoc reporting, data entries, validation, and data analysis, Visa support, information filing, communication with international candidates, and other relevant administrative or project tasks in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must have work experience with immigration law. Candidate must speak Spanish and/or Portuguese. Solid IT skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coordinates daily administration, reviews and reconciles monthly invoices, and supports monthly dashboard and ad-hoc reporting.
- Identifies vendor process changes that may impact Framingham’s mobility program administration, and makes recommendations as appropriate.
- Maintains district database of staff on work authorizations and actively monitors work status and deadlines
- Notifies Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Human Resources Personnel, Director of Multilingual Education, campus principals, and affected teachers about legal updates regarding cases.
- Researches issues and addresses problem situations directly with vendors.
- Supports international moves, including reporting, data file transfers with outside vendors, and supporting documentation.
- Where applicable, verifies vendor data and ensures processing accuracy; addresses problem situations directly with the vendor and escalates issues to the Director of Multilingual Education and Office of Human Resources.
- Supports immigration processes to include intake and work distribution, inputting data into systems and tracking spreadsheets while organizing/allocating actionable work, files any information emails, and reporting.
- Completes immigration postings, Public Access files, employment verification letters, and reporting requests as needed.
- Supports domestic relocation program to include inputting data and tracking spreadsheets, verifying data, and updating where appropriate.
- Assists with the initiation process and respective filing.
- Collaborate with appropriate departments to ensure payment of legal services is in good standing between the district and vendors.
- Assists in building and supporting international recruitment pathways.
- Serves as a point of contact for all educators on work authorization visas
- Explores options to directly sponsor visas and/or other work options.
- Assists with the establishment of pipelines to increase workforce.
- Advises prospective employees and applicants regarding the Visa process.
- Assists the Office of Human Resources with the process to request a waiver for educator licensure with DESE.
- Assists the Office of Human Resources with Job Postings and vacancy list management.
- Other human resources duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Associate Director of Human Resources.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must also often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.). The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Occasionally s/he operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with other staff members in person and on the telephone. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION:
This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Covered under Framingham School Committee Policy. The Framingham Public Schools reserves the right to shorten or lengthen the assignment time based upon the needs of the District. Salary ranges from $60,000 to $64,000 per year, depending on the years of relative experience and level of education.
