Project Information:

Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of intercontinental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.

Position Overview:

  • Integrate GIS tools with the digital delivery of an engineering design for a large linear project and develop GIS-specific deliverables for the customer.
  • Deploys Bechtel project's GIS functionality and requires a firm understanding of the impacts and security implications of maintaining and operating an ArcGIS enterprise solution.
  • The candidate will be a member of a team of engineers and analysts performing engineering design and construction management on a large-scale linear project covering large geographic areas.
  • You will report to the Senior GIS database administrator the GIS analyst will be required to communicate effectively with Engineers and Craft.
  • The analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the enterprise database.
  • The analyst may be required to travel to sites and work / walk job sites


Responsibilities:

  • Create, Edit, and Maintain project geospatial data.
  • Create maps, exhibits, graphs, and plot other information using ArcGIS Desktop software.
  • Generate reports and GIS exports to support business needs.
  • Review and Analyze Spatial Data
  • Understanding of ESRI extensions
  • Work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail
  • Work with our survey and construction teams, to integrate field information and engineering teams to integrate design information into a comprehensive GIS database.
  • Support acquisition of field data through survey.
  • Perform quality control on field data and data provided by others prior to integration in an enterprise database.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform query, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Engage in various project processes involving metadata, spatial analysis, GPS information gathering, data conversions, Geoprocessing, etc.
  • Work with the GIS team and Bechtel's clients to ensure data quality and completeness.
  • Document work processes, instructions, and procedures.
  • Support strategic GIS team missions and goals and help guide technical vision.
  • Integrate with engineering, construction, and customer information and data modeling applications.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 1: BS degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university. In lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Level 2: BS degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in GIS implementation and data management in linear project design. In lieu of a degree, at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • US citizenship is required per contract requirements.
  • Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient In Esri ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS ArcMap
  • Strong Editing and Data Analyzing Skills
  • Understanding of Coordinate Systems, Map Projections, and transformations
  • Experience working with Esri Geodatabases
  • Understanding of editing in Versioned Environment
  • Working knowledge of CAD programs and importing drawings into GIS.
  • Knowledge of cartographic procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of geography and various methods references common to GIS applications, such as coordinate systems and mapping standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional IT experience in Windows and Web Servers administration.
  • Experience working with a variety of vector and raster datasets from public and private sources.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
  • Previous DoD/DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA project experience.
  • Knowledge of Python Scripting a Plus
  • Knowledge of ESRI Linear Referencing Methodology a Plus
  • Experience with alignment sheets a plus
  • Knowledge of CAD and related software and GIS/CADD interoperability a plus.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro is a plus.
  • Experience with data management pertaining to the design of linear facilities such as pipelines, communication cable, etc.
  • Experience in linear project design and preparing design deliverables
  • Experience with engineering implementation on projects executed for DOD, or other similar government agencies.
