The Geological Advisor role for Apache Corporation will be a member of APA’s Exploration department at the company’s Houston, Texas office reporting to the Director of Geology.
This position will provide expert-level Structural Analysis to the global asset base and be responsible for the following;
Identify, map, and mature drillable exploration and field development opportunities;
Regional Tectonic/Paleogeographic modeling for Exploration opportunities worldwide;
Structural interpretation and restoration in all geologic settings (extensional, compressional, salt, etc);
Define structural interpretation workflows and provide QC for geocellular modeling;
Fault seal analysis;
Mechanical stratigraphy, fracture characterization and prediction;
Mentor geoscience staff on the methods and tools to describe structural evolution of asset areas from regional to development scale;
Develop and instruct relevant short courses to Apache and JV partner technical staff on Structural Analysis; and
Serve a leading role in APA’s geoscience network as a structural expert to assist in risking workshops and peer reviews across all assets. Qualifications & Experience
Proficiency in the following required:
Opportunity generation at the field and play scale
2D/3D-seismic interpretation; Expert-level in Petrel
Expertise in structural modelling software (Move preferred)
Structural framework modeling in Petrel
Working experience preferred in the following:
Proven Oil Finder
Risk & Volumetric Assessment
Multi-basin experience
Field (outcrop) based structural analysis
Team leadership and mentorship
Training/field-trip design Experience working with and influencing partners
Minimum work experience and degree:
12+ years of industry experience with a relevant MSc or higher
