With your patience, guidance and passion for helping others, you’ll help to lead the operations of the pet sitting and dog walking business—from head to tail! You’ll build relationships with clients, champion exceptional customer service, lead your associates, and drive results to grow the business.

This is a new Fetch! Pet Care location that will be opening very soon. This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a growing business. Though this role is based from your home, you will continually travel to area clients.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our General Manager, you will:

  • Onboard all new associates and sitters, ensuring their completion of all training requirements and annual safety certifications, any required certifications by the state, and ensuring that each staff member represents the brand in a positive way according to our standards.
  • Be an essential part of building this new location's success.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan.
  • Network with vertical markets (vets, groomers, other pet care businesses, etc.) and build referral programs.
  • Ensure staff are performing tasks to our brand standards and to client’s personal preferences.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of every pet and associate and taking immediate action whenever necessary.
  • Develop your leadership skills as a General Manager in a mobile business.
  • Hire and Train staff for grand opening.

Key Accountabilities

The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Pet Parents and their Pets

  • Ensure the safety, health and well-being of animals by making sure all staff are following Fetch! Pet Care standards, policies and procedures. Exhibits a high level interest in animal welfare.
  • Ensure that all staff follow pet parent’s instructions when servicing their beloved pets. Provides courteous service to all clients by utilizing intent behaviors while communicating with clients. Reviews guest experience survey results as the General Manager and work with staff to develop action plans.
  • Recruiting and hiring staff and develops a team focused on building long-term guest relationships are extremely important for this role.
  • Identifies and communicates all situations and/or conditions that negatively affect the pet or staff member in any client’s home.
  • Applies a talent management skill set within the scope of recruiting, hiring, training, work scheduling, coaching, safety procedures and succession planning.
  • Partner experience focusing on the health and wellness of both the pet and the partner.

Operations

  • Supervises the daily operations of the entire staff. Reviews all sitter and staff paperwork(s) daily to ensure the proper sales are recorded on each pet.
  • Adheres to and promotes established safety procedures and maintenance of clean, safe and healthy environment for staff and animals.
  • Interacts professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with internal and external partners and guests.
  • Ensure proper scheduling within the business, to include days, evenings and weekends.
  • Meets sales projections, controls payroll and expenses to meet target, maintains daily and weekly records, assists in preparation of bi-weekly work schedule.
  • Analyzes reports to assess the state of the business and develops action plans to improve where needed to achieve targets and goals.
  • Performs activities to maintain a knowledge and understanding of location sales, performance and data.

Engage and Inspire: Energizes others by clarifying the broader purpose and mission of their work. Demonstrate can-do spirit, a sense of optimism, ownership and commitment.

Encourages high standards of performance, acknowledges other’s efforts and accomplishments.

Talent Enhancement: Identifies and recruits/refers qualified people. Makes accurate evaluations of people’s capabilities and fit. Provides coaching and guidance where appropriate to enhance other’s skills development.

Nature of Supervision

General instruction and/or functional guidance is provided on some, but not all tasks to be performed. For the most part, daily responsibilities will be carried out with little or no direct interaction with the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervise all staff members. Provide guidance and training to staff. Test potential applicants for procedures and evaluate skills on other job-related tasks. Complete
performance evaluations for all staff.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma (its equivalency i.e. GED) or the equivalent work experience.
  • Some college level business/management courses preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in guest service roles is preferred.
  • Experience supervising partners, or demonstrating an aptitude for training, motivation and sales techniques, and analytical abilities is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience and prior retail experience are preferred.

Work Environment

  • The majority of job duties are conducted indoors/outdoors.
  • Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds) and standing for long periods of time.
  • A large amount of this partner’s time will be spent in direct contact with our guests and their pets and the remaining time will be spent working on growing the business.

Contacts

  • This position has continuous contact with the general public and at store-related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments both in the field and at the Support Center(s).
  • Contact outside of Fetch! Pet Care may be required in order to coordinate merchandise returns, store events, vendor meetings, etc.
