The agency has developed and implemented innovative programs and services for low-income pregnant and parenting families, focusing on zip codes at high risk of infant death, poor maternal/child health, and child endangerment. HMHB/Broward is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is strengthening families and improving birth outcomes in the underserved community within Broward County through comprehensive programs, education, and access to vital support services.

Position Summary
As an executive and member of the leadership team of HMHB, the Development Director will report to the Executive Director. This position is based in our Lauderhill, Florida office. This individual’s primary responsibility is managing the day-to-day operations of the development department, which includes strategy and planning of the fundraising campaigns, managing/organizing the annual fundraising event in May, donor stewardship, and management of donor communications.
The Development Director must also have the capacity to develop enthusiastic committees that encourage supporters and volunteers to share of their time, talent, and treasure so that the mission of HMHB can successfully serve the pregnant and parenting moms in our community.

Primary Duties:
Fundraising Oversight and Implementation
Fundraising Events – Oversee the development and implementation of fundraising events and silent auctions that support and achieve organizational goals. Ability to prioritize and maintain deadlines while managing multiple events. Solicit and secure event sponsors.

Corporate Giving – Develop strategies to build annual corporate partnerships along with corporate fundraising programs.
Communications – Review, edit, and create content for donor letters, newsletters, reports, brochures, etc. Develop a campaign communication program that effectively cultivates prospects, stewards donors, and strengthens positive perceptions of HMHB and the value of gifts to its programs.

Annual Giving Program – Oversee and continue to develop the direct appeal program, ensure that appeals are coordinated and delivered on schedule, the content of appeals is aligned with approved messaging, and the overall annual giving campaign is well-managed.

Gift Processing, Gift Acknowledgement, and Data Management (including reconciliation and reporting) – Ensure that the donor relationship and gift management system (Network for Good) is well designed, and that gift data is properly coded, accurate, and well organized. Ensure that gift processing, acknowledgment, and management are accurate and timely; and appropriate reports are created and delivered on schedule.

Major Gifts – Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-wealth individuals. Develop and implement strategies to build prospects’ trust, interest, and investment in the organization; involve key volunteers appropriately.

Social Media – Ensure that the mission effectively employs a range of social media tools—Facebook, Instagram, and targeted email. Maintain a professional web presence, including content, and donation mechanisms.

Leadership & Management
Budgeting and Reporting – Develop and manage an annual budget for the development department and achieve financial goals. Track key benchmarks and provide regular reports to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and committees as requested.

Management Team Member – Serve collaboratively with members of the senior management team, integrating development into organizational strategies and activities.

Board Leadership – Serve as liaison with members of the board. Work with the Executive Director and the board chair to appropriately engage board members in the cultivation of prospective contributors, and to ensure that all board members are properly cultivated and solicited for gifts aligned with their means.
Volunteer Recruitment and Oversight – Identify effective volunteer roles and responsibilities. Directly supervise volunteers and committee members.

Requirements
A four (4) year degree preferred and a minimum of three years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in nonprofit; or certified marketing/fundraising professional with a minimum of 10 years professional fundraising experience with individuals, foundation/corporate giving, direct appeal, database management, donor stewardship, and fundraising events.

Proven experience in designing and managing development and donor relations programs.

Computer proficiency required, Microsoft Office software programs, and electronic giving platforms.

Must have a flexible work schedule as some events may require evenings and weekends.
