Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance systems through the coordination and implementation of key programs. The FSQA Program Specialist will support the Food Safety and Quality Management initiative through the creation of appropriate reports and presentations. You must be able to communicate and interact with all departments and levels of personnel and assimilate pertinent information and data. This position has oversite of multiple manufacturing facilities.


Essential Duties and Requirements include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Maintains the Quality Management System.
  • Maintains the Supplier Approval Program and conducts initial qualification of Suppliers and review of Supplier Quality documents.
  • Maintains the SQF document register and conducts the annual review of the SQF programs including necessary updates (electronically and physically).
  • Maintains the Quality Assurance Procedure and Lab Manuals (practices, processes, SOP’s, and forms).
  • Supports internal and external audits by acting as liaison for documentation retrieval and Program SME.
  • Supports the validation and verification of pre-requisite programs.
  • Supports collecting and analyzing quality metrics for trend analysis and scorecard generation.
  • Generates various reports and trend analysis using food safety and quality audit data and presents to management to proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Cross trained to conduct FSQA documentation review for HACCP verification.
  • Cross trained to conduct FSQA training requirements for personnel in the areas of HACCP, Allergen, GMP’s, SQF/Food Defense and additional programs as developed.
  • Continuous improvement of Quality Culture.
  • Support and travel to all manufacturing facilities as business needs dictate.
  • Responsible for promoting food safety and employee safety throughout the organization.

Education and/or Experience

Two year technical degree in applied sciences is required, with a preference for 4 year degree. Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is desired, especially in Quality Control/Assurance, R&D, or Pharmaceutical industries. SQF practitioner, Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) preferred.
