Friends’ Central School Overview

Friends’ Central School is an independent, coeducational Quaker day school founded in 1845 and serving approximately 819 students in Nursery through grade 12. Located in the Philadelphia suburbs, the School has two campuses. The Middle & Upper Schools are located just outside of West Philadelphia in Wynnewood, and the Lower School is on our Old Gulph Road campus in the heart of Wynnewood. Job Description Summary
The receptionist is a focal point of a visit to Friends’ Central School and a visitor’s first impression of the School. The receptionist needs to be well-presented, outgoing, confident, and warm, and have a clear understanding of their duties and the expectations of this role.

Responsibilities
The Front Desk Receptionist handles operational responsibilities on a broad basis, supporting the needs of the multiple departments located on the City Avenue Campus. This position serves to welcome guests and visitors to the campus; maintains the OPA Room: and provides additional support to staff as needed.
The Front Desk Receptionist is required on campus Monday through Friday. Working hours are between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm and includes a 30-minute lunch break. Due to the nature of the role, this position is not eligible for hybrid or remote work.

Greet and welcome all visitors in a cordial and professional manner.
Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
Register all visitors on campus through the system provided by Raptor Technologies, issue visitor badges, and log visitors in and out.
Notify department of visitor’s arrival and direct visitors to wait in the OPA Room
Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls.
Ensure the Front Desk is covered at all times, including short breaks. The Front Desk cannot be left unattended at any time during the school day. See Front Desk Coverage Schedule for backup.
Maintain a professional appearance of the reception and entrance area, including the OPA Reception Room.
Maintain the coffee area in the OPA Room, and refresh the coffee, sugar, cream, cups, and napkins, as needed.
Notify janitorial staff promptly of house-keeping needs in the first floor of the Main Building.
Work closely and proactively with the Admission Office and Development Office to anticipate and plan for visitors to their offices.
Additional duties as assigned.
