The Oregon Military Department (OMD) is recruiting for 3 Force Protection Officers.

These are permanent full-time state positions located at the Portland Air National Guard base in Portland, Oregon.

This announcement will remain open continuously until favorable candidates are selected, and all positions are filled. We will be pulling the first list on Monday November 28th, 2022. This recruitment may close any time after this date.

What You Will be Doing
The Force Protection Officer provides Law Enforcement and Force Protection services to the Portland Air National Guard Base (PANG), to effectively secure and protect mission essential operational resources, State and Federal property and personnel assigned to host/tenant units. This position enforces Federal, State, Air Force, Air National Guard and PANG regulations in order to preserve the peace, good order and discipline to protect life, limb and government property. The Force Protection Officer works under the direction of a SRT Leader as a member of a Force Protection Response Team. In the event of hostile threats, this position works effectively as part of a team to ensure the protection and security of mission essential resources.
Working Conditions
Incumbent is subject to work overtime with as much notice as possible, at any time the Resource Protection mission requires or at any time directed by the 142d Security Forces Manager or other 142 SFS management staff. On a daily basis, incumbent is required to bear firearms in the performance of duty and is also required to perform those duties in all weather conditions, regardless of time of day. Incumbent is required to work outside and may have exposure to noxious fumes such as vehicle and aircraft exhaust on a daily basis. Works in extreme high noise area (flight line) and firing range. Incumbent responds to hazardous materials incidents, fires or medical emergencies as outer perimeter security and evacuates personnel.
What You Need to Qualify
An Associate degree in law enforcement.

Eighteen (18) months of armed law enforcement or security service experience which included:
Interpreting and applying security and public safety regulations, policies, and procedures. interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects

NOTE: Military training in a police occupation specialty may substitute for six (6) months of experience.
Additional Requirements
Incumbent must attend 80 hours of training on Law Enforcement/Security procedures, policies, etc. prior to being released for duty.
Must possess and maintain a current driver license.
Candidates must complete a pre-employment psychological evaluation and drug screen prior to official job offer.

The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DoD SECRET security clearance and eligibility to obtain a USAF Restricted Area Badge. Duties and responsibilities include unescorted access to restricted areas that may contain classified equipment or materials up to secret level. To retain employment incumbent must possess or be able to possess and maintain a favorable completed National Agency Check in order to receive and retain an AF Form 1199 restricted area badge and obtain and maintain AF Form 2293, U.S. Air Force Motor Vehicle Identification Card.
Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.

Upon hire and annually thereafter, must certify ability to perform with duty weapons, and be able to meet standards of Post Reporting IAW standard operating procedures. Certification must be completed within 3 attempts.
All employees in this classification/position, shall be subject to testing for the use of prohibited drugs and must pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
