Overview:
Skylark Meats LLC, an American Foods Group company, has an opportunity for a Food Safety Coordinator to join our team in Omaha, NE.

As our Food Safety Coordinator, you will:
  • Conduct comprehensive annual HACCP reassessments including program review and functional audits of HACCP, SSOP, and pre-requisite programs and all supporting documents.
  • Keep the plant updated on all HACCP Related notices and directives.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of the SQF system.
  • Manage the employee training process to ensure there is successful completion and implementation of all required trainings.
  • Coordinate weekly SQF meetings with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance teams as needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to work extended scheduled hours Monday through Friday, with the possibility of frequent overtime.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Animal Science, or related field.
  • Must have experience in meat/beef production quality assurance.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, and write).
  • Must complete asssessment prior to consideration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • HACCP Certification.
  • Prior Harvest or Fabrication experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (speak, read, and write).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge in plant sanitation practices, microbiology, aseptic sampling techniques and plans, and laboratory practices.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook).
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent understanding of HACCP, GMP, SSOP and USDA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with USDA personnel and other third-party auditors.
  • Ability to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction and work successfully as part of a team.
  • Ability to lead a team of approximately 10 employees.
