Summary/Objective
Under limited supervision, the mechanic position performs work of considerable difficulty in the
repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the

1. Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment.
2. Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
3. Prepares and maintains records and reports.
4. May act as lead person in supervisor’s absence


Competencies

1. Proficiency in both light diesel and gas truck engines and electrical systems
2. Knowledge of Microsoft Software
3. Knowledge of Fleet diagnostics


Work Environment

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or
airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.
2. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions.
3. Noise level in the work environment can be loud.


Physical Demands

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and
hear.
2. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling,
stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
3. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full time employment, Days and Hours will vary. Some overtime as needed.


Travel

10% travel throughout the Midwest


Required Education and Experience

5 years’ diesel mechanic experience


Preferred Education and Experience

1. Knowledge of Fleet GPS & Camera Systems
2. ASE Certification


Additional Eligibility Requirements

1. Current & valid state driver’s license
2. Must pass company provided PCP physical capacity profile exam (post offer, preemployment)
& Drug Screen
3. Meet company policy MVR criteria
4. Must successfully complete company sponsored EVOC
