The Fires Collective Trainer Computer Based Trainer on the Collective Training Team is expected to coach/mentor an Army Battalion or Brigade battle staff personnel on Mission Command utilizing current Military doctrine and Army Mission Command Information Systems. Provide the knowledge and expertise integrating Army Mission Command into the planning and execution of large-scale combat operations (LSCO). Provide input on how fires are integrated into LSCO in a direct action training environment (DATE), enhances command and control (C2), and supports sustainment operations as part of the overall operation. Assists in the team effort to develop/coordinate/implement operations orders in support of operations anywhere on the continuum of conflict. Coaches and teaches Battalion and Brigade staffs in the integration of fires into the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP), Operations Orders, and the current operations (CUOPS) section of the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) when planning and executing operations. Must possess expert level knowledge (5 or more year’s recent experience) in the use of the Army Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) and have working knowledge of other Army Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS) to leverage the Army’s C2 capabilities and to enable the command team.

Must be fully conversant with MDMP and how to use MDMP to develop the appropriate warning orders/operations order/fragmentary orders and associated annexes. May serve as the unit liaison between the Fort Bliss Mission Training Center and one of the combat and/or functional brigades on Fort Bliss in order to facilitate oversight, scheduling and planning of live/virtual/constructive exercises in support of the commander’s training glidepath. May serve as part of the exercise support team utilizing a component of the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC). Employees on the collective team must be able to travel up to 10% of the time throughout the year, maintain the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk/maneuver on unimproved terrain, and be willing to accept other duties as assigned to support the mission.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide computer/network support for the Army Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS) in the Mission Command Training Center (MCTC) classrooms and Reconfigurable Tactical Operations Center TOC (RTOC), or other locations as required. Employee will help prepare and execute system architecture set-up for all training events.
  • Assist in the configuration of the working cells that support unit training.
  • Provide over-the-shoulder coaching and mentoring to battalion-level and higher staffs in the integration and utilization of AFATDS and the Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS) during the preparation, planning, and execution of military operations.
  • Teach, coach, and mentor battalion and brigade staffs in all aspects of MDMP with specific emphasis on the planning and integration of fires.
  • Troubleshoot Army MCIS in order to inform network technicians in fixing systems issues.
  • Provide technical support to all MCTC missions as required.
  • Performs back up network administration duties and provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
  • Provides cross training for other team members. Maintains accountability and responsibility for all assigned equipment.
  • Performs any additional duties as specified by the team leader and/or contract site lead.
Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in military training.
  • Candidate should have served as a U.S. Army Brigade or above Fire Support Sergeant or Fire Support Officer, or served as a senior Warrant Officer in a Targeting Officer position.
  • Possess significant understanding of Army doctrine, the integration of Fires into the planning and execution of operations, and the tactical application of MCIS at battalion-and-above levels.
  • Expert level knowledge (5 or more year’s recent experience) in the use of the Army Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS).
  • Possess experience with computer and/or simulation-based training.
  • Possess the ability to setup and tear down computer workstations prior to and after all training events.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • U.S. citizen possessing an active Secret security clearance with no unfavorable or derogatory information that would preclude obtaining a Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Post-secondary training/education or relevant practical experience in an information technology field.
  • Intermediate Level Education (ILE) or Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) equivalent.
  • Instructor certification through a formal Army training program.
  • Recent (last 5 years) experience with MCIS, to include JADOCS, Command Post of the Future (CPOF), and Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE).
  • Recent (last 5 years) specific experience in Army simulations, including Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS3), Warfighters’ Simulation (WARSIM), or other similar training simulations.
  • Recent (last 5 years) experience serving on a Brigade or higher-level staff.
  • US Top Secret clearance.
  • A+ Certification
  • Security+ Certification.
