Scope

Michter’s is seeking a Finishing Operator at our distillery located at 2351 New Millennium Drive, Louisville, KY 40216. This will be an opportunity to become involved in the bourbon industry, one of Kentucky’s finest traditions. This position will report to the Final Goods Manager and is responsible for maintaining a hygienic and safe environment while meeting all production requirements with the highest of standards. Operators are to represent the Company in a professional manner and actively participate in a teamwork environment. The operator must demonstrate the ability to understand and physically interact with all aspects of the job. Must actively participate in all support and operational functions of the finishing operation. If necessary, operator may be called upon to support other plant operations.

Primary Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and effective operation of the finishing process, including, but not limited to, starting, stopping, and troubleshooting of some equipment.
  • Safely and effectively move and maintain all required raw materials to support the finishing process, including but not limited to cases, labels, inserts, etc.
  • Perform all job tasks safely and effectively at assigned areas of the production line including relief duties when required.
  • Maintain housekeeping in all areas of production as required, including the break rooms and smoking areas using best housekeeping practices.
  • Adheres to all Company policies regarding health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Immediately report all safety, environmental, and quality issues to bottling supervision.
  • Adhere to and utilize PPE program when performing job duties with hazards, (e.g., wax dipping.)
  • Accurately complete and update information forms and logs including, but not limited to Quality Documents, Wax Dipping Report, etc.
  • Duties may require supporting bottling, shipping, or other departments for extended periods of time.
  • Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance as required and directed by Manager.
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack.
  • Ensures bottles are labeled with proper domestic and export labels.
  • Package and repackage bottles per standard operating procedure.
  • Wax dip bottles per standard operating procedure while ensuring the highest level of quality.

  • Individuals must be able to lift 40 lbs. on a continual basis and 60 lbs. as needed from the floor to shoulder height.
  • Must be focused on maintaining a neat and organized work environment as part of our quality commitment.
  • Must be flexible and agile to meet business requirements. Ability to work any shift, overtime and weekends.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and capable of building a positive team spirit.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Bottling and/or finishing background preferred.
  • Individual must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with comprehension.
  • Must have a sound understanding of math concepts.
