Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Coach provides both initial consultations and evaluations, along with behavioral health coaching services. These sessions are provided to individual participants aged sixteen (16) or older and are conducted either telephonically or via secure video platform. Additionally, this role supports customer financial hardship programs, which includes conducting financial hardship assessments and administrative management of these cases.
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
In a manner consistent with supporting BHS’s Mission Statement the Financial & Behavioral Health Coach shall do the following:
  • Deliver telephonic and video coaching sessions to individual participants voluntarily seeking BHS services and those referred by their workplace due to performance concerns. The focus of these sessions are follow-up and monitor all coaching cases to ensure the participant is making desired progress towards goals.
  • Conduct telephonic financial hardship assessments for participants applying for employer sponsored financial assistance programs.
  • Assist with responding to incoming financial hardship applications and inquiries regarding such applications, as needed
  • Refer participants to appropriate community, educational, employer based and other resources to address barriers to change and to support achievement of their goals.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation in BHS’ customized database.
  • Offer solutions and creative ideas for improving internal processes, efficiencies and enhancing participant outcomes.
  • Contribute towards monthly team professional development sessions and maintain knowledge of best coaching practices.
  • Manages flexible schedule to ensure, customer satisfaction, adequate levels of utilization.
  • Responsible for all care coordination tasks/touchpoints for cases assigned to them.
  • Participate in the Contact Center on-call rotation and support the contact center when needed.
  • Ability to quickly form relationships with participants through rapport building and use of empathy.
  • Awareness of factors contributing to emotional, career and financial well-being and knowledge of general strategies for improving well-being in these areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate change and achievement of clients’ goals.
  • Assure compliance with standards and regulations.
Other duties as assigned
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Knowledge of coaching theory, skills and techniques that include Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), Strengths Based and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology or related field is required.
  • Financial coaching certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of life and/or wellness coaching experience specifically in the area of emotional wellbeing required.
  • Experience providing coaching in virtual and telephonic environments
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
This is a REMOTE position. BHS is seeking candidates throughout the US. Applicants outside of Maryland will be considered for this role.
