Financial Consulting Director

Who You Are + What You'll Do:

In this role, you're a strategic advisor to Kobie's clients and internal leaders on all aspects of the financial performance and viability of existing and emerging Loyalty Programs. You will develop tools to analyze the financial impact of loyalty program value propositions and customer benefits. You'll collaborate with Strategic Consultants, Business Intelligence Analysts, and client leaders to incorporate data and assumptions into models that you'll construct – accommodating program design elements, evaluating multiple scenarios, and conveying crucial insights and implications to decisionmakers.

It gives you the opportunity to use leading-edge tools and creative thinking to perform complex analysis and deliver them in an easily understandable, intuitive manner to resources at all levels. It also allows you to work cross-functionally within Kobie to leverage all available resources and ensure a quality work product in delivered on time, within budget.

Our ideal candidate is someone who highly adept and experienced at all aspects of financial modeling and related approaches while being self-motivated, comfortable with ambiguity, a strong storyteller, and a skilled problem-solver.

What You'll Do Day to Day:

  • Build loyalty program financial models leveraging Excel and other tools based on client data inputs and/or assumptions that can be easily updated.
  • Work with Strategic Consulting and Decision Science teammates to define data needs and find alternatives if all desired data or assumptions are not available.
  • Create documents that clearly and succinctly explain methodology, key assumptions, scenarios, insights and outcomes for models delivered.
  • Run scenarios using techniques such as Monte Carlo simulations to assess the likely range of outcomes.
  • Compile key model findings and confidently convey them to get across the most salient and impactful insights for key decision-makers.
  • Potentially lead others in the completion of various aspects of financial modeling during modeling engagements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience that you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelors' degree, or commensurate work experience, is required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial and/or statistical analysis and financial modeling. An analytical, detail-oriented mindset is required.
  • Several years of experience analyzing and/or managing loyalty programs is preferred.
  • VBA or SQL experience is preferred
  • Sigma experience is preferred
  • Prior agency or consulting experience is preferred
  • A strong knowledge and significant hands-on experience in planning, forecasting, and performance analysis of loyalty programs against KPI's strongly preferred.
  • Ability to apply financial analysis techniques to loyalty program concepts and experience with P&L analysis.
  • Outstanding Excel skills, including advanced formulas and techniques.
  • Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking to develop and implement solutions that overcome problems and constraints despite a high degree of ambiguity and fast pace.
  • Ability to work independently and marshal necessary internal resources to complete projects in a timely fashion while ensuring a quality work product and high level of attention to detail.
  • Intellectually curious – always interested in learning new concepts and techniques
  • Ability to accurately forecast / estimate effort and hours necessary to complete projects
  • Strong familiarity with standard loyalty reporting outputs and associated metrics across multiple business verticals is preferred.
  • Ability to review diverse information sources, competing methodologies, and derive a fact-based, defensible point of view.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills are a must, including excellent grammar.
