Finance Generalist
Non‐Exempt
General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work, maintains financial records and reports,
prepares required and requested reports, receipting incoming monies, processing purchase requisitions,
oversees timekeeper, provides administrative support, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work
is performed under the supervision of the Finance Operations Director.
Qualification Requirements
Two Year Associate Degree with coursework in accounting or related field preferred or
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting or related field or
equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping terminology and methods.
General knowledge of accounting theory and principles.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment.
Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to follow detailed instructions.
Ability to operate standard office equipment efficiently.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
Ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form.
Ability to maintain financial records and prepare financial reports.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Reports to
Finance Operations Director
Essential Functions
Prepares a wide variety of accounting, fiscal, statistical, and similar reports.
Plans and coordinates a wide variety of special projects, activities and/or events.
Makes decisions in accordance with internal audit policies and procedures.
Manages timekeeper exceptions and reviews department time sheets to ensure accuracy.
Prepares and sends invoices for monthly billings.
Prepares journal entries for department billings.
Prepares a wide variety of reports, documents, and correspondence of a confidential and non‐
confidential nature.
Verifies employment information upon request.
Tracks and receipts facility use of the schools.
Prepares purchase orders and prepaid vouchers for payment and verifies coding.
Coordinates logistics, reservations, and registrations for the Finance Department.
Purchases supplies and maintains department inventory.
Finance Generalist
Conducts applicant testing for financial positions (school treasurer or department vacancies).
Receives, receipts, accounts for, and deposits cash/checks received daily.
Acts as the district contact for Charter Schools (manages funding, prepares vouchers and
reporting)
Acts as an NC Medicaid Administrative Claiming Program Coordinator
Performs general clerical work as required.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance Operations Director.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.
Work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and
repetitive motions.
Work occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling with
hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
Work has standard vision requirements.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken work;
hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and
observing general surroundings and activities.
Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic).
