  • Manage and supervise maintenance personnel to maintain equipment used in the safe refinery operation
  • Reporting to the Refinery's Maintenance Manager, you will have the responsibility of scheduling and managing work and providing experience and knowledge ensuring that all I & E projects are completed in a safe and economical manner
  • May be responsible for the following:
  • Be a safety leader and help implement a zero-incident culture
  • Daily operations of your I&E section providing support to the business teams
  • Supporting the refinery as an Instrumentation and Electrical expert
  • Implementing Instrumentation and Electrical management programs to ensure compliance in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations including Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Providing overall work direction for the section including turnarounds
  • Strategically planning the future for your section
  • Planning the work and working the plan
  • Proactively supporting and leading I&E initiatives that support the business
  • Being a leader in emergency response incident command system and procedures
  • Having a supporting role on the oil spill response team
  • Defining training objectives and develop the I&E training course content, format, and presentation methods as necessary
  • Leading on Pre-Start up safety reviews for I&E
  • Stewarding critical instruments program
  • Coordinating work activities with other crafts such as metals and mechanists

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular basis
  • 10+ years I&E field experience
  • 5+ years' experience as a Supervisor
  • Experience designing, implementing, or testing safety instrumented systems
  • In depth knowledge of applicable instrument and electrical laws and regulations
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • TWIC Card holder or eligible

Willingness and ability to perform/comply with the following:

  • Wear Nomex fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear, and eye protection)
  • Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' experience in the I&E field in a refinery, petrochemical or chemical industry
  • Be a leader on the emergency response team? Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
  • Interpersonal skills to handle a work group in a unionized work force
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments, and proactively manage time and generally manage a heavy workload
  • Ability to effectively communicate and train operations personnel
  • Self-directed
  • Able to solve a broad range of complex problems
  • Defining and measuring business contribution and progress through metrics
  • Investigating, documenting and providing solutions based on root cause analysis methodology
  • Ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and suggest an appropriate mitigation plan
  • Strong written, oral and computer skills including proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office: Excel and Word
  • Provide training, communications strategies, and resource assistance during audits with work group and various business units

Pay: $60.00 - $67.00 per hour
