Summary:
This person will act as a Service Technician and will be responsible to support customers on technical matters via phone, email, and onsite interventions. He or she will work very closely with Production, Engineering, and Service on all events, effectively communicating with these departments and developing solutions to problems. This person will be required to travel without restriction and with short notice. Weekend work can be required and is based upon the customers need. The Service Technician is responsible for evaluating and repairing industrial gear reducers, industrial gear motors, and other drive components per information on production or service orders. This person is responsible for assembly, testing units and troubleshooting problems associated with gearbox and motor assembly. This position will also act as a resource to production and service workshop as capacity allows.
Description:

• Provide technical support to customers on matters arising during or after commissioning including responding to phone calls and written inquiries, evaluating returned products, and writing service reports and job instructions.
• Perform onsite service interventions based on company needs including on the weekends.
• Administration related to parts being replaced, hours vested and general notes and documentation and paperwork.
• Must be able to travel domestically without restriction, including on the weekends.
• Coordinate with customer scope of service, PPE, and site requirements prior to service call.
• Must have knowledge and ability to use various measuring equipment and gages related to machining and assembly of mechanical components.
• Test units for audible noises, vibrations, or other anomalies.
• Rework and correct noise or leakage problems.
• Proficiency in using alignment equipment on site.
• Identify tooling and equipment needed to perform field service based on scope of service.
• Must provide the proper written and verbal communication regarding service events both internally and externally to customers.
• Must be able to work onsite at the customer location with mechanical trades as needed to supervise work performed on NORD products.
• Must be able to commission gearboxes at customer site and be able to complete sales/administration functions.

Job Requirements
Education: High School Diploma Required, Graduate in mechanical trade preferred.
Experience: Experience in the Industrial Gearbox Industry preferred.
Skills and Key Attributes: Customer focused, detail oriented, mechanical aptitude and communication skills via verbal and written. Computer knowledge with Microsoft Office. Ability to write reports using Microsoft Office, read prints, assess situations, and determine how the best way to proceed.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs and to stand on feet and move around for up to 8-10 hours per day. Ability to travel without restrictions.
