Field Safety Specialist II Job at ALLETE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and administer safety programs and training for a natural gas, water, and electric utility.
- Possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, practices and procedures.
- Interpret and assure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
- Prepare and distribute educational materials and information, audit company facilities, and recommend actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Compile and submit required OSHA accident reports.
- Conduct regular site visits of field personnel to help identify and mitigate hazards and improve site safety.
- Work closely with the ALLETE / Minnesota Power safety team to accomplish department goals and priorities.
- May provide work direction for others; act in a lead role for safety-related investigations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene, or equivalent.
OR - Bachelor’s in an engineering discipline PLUS qualifying safety designation may be used as an equivalency.
- Example for equivalency Certified Safety Professional through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Four years or more related experience required
- An advanced/graduate degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene, or equivalent may be used as an equivalency for up to two years of required experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- This position will report regularly in person to Superior, WI.
- Experience with natural gas, water and/or electric utilities desired.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
