Yacht works Inc is one of the largest year-round employers in northern Door County. For over 40 years, Yacht Works has been the only Full-Service Marine yard North of Sturgeon Bay. In recent years, we have expanded and now operate in 3 locations in Florida and as of 2021, we purchased a marina on the Lakeshore of Kewaunee, WI. We are looking for motivated individuals that are passionate about boating to join our service team.

Job Description - Fiberglass and Paint Technician

- Tape or otherwise protect surrounding surfaces such as decks, hardware, and windows during work process.

- Prepare metal, fiberglass, wood, etc. and apply marine coatings

- Apply coating and shaping hulls with surface filler and sanding with precision

- Use spray gun in a spray booth setting to achieve high quality finishes

- Help with various tasks around marine yard when needed.

Job Requirements

- Maintain a clean and tidy work area and work cooperatively with other department personnel

- Familiar with marine coating systems. Bottom paint, barrier coats, varnish, epoxies, Awlgrip

- This is a job that requires physical labor and qualified candidate must:

- Have unrestricted ability to walk, climb, bend, squat, lift heavy objects, work safely on lifted platforms, and follow safety guidelines. Must be able to work around solvents, paint, resins, composite materials such as fiberglass, etc. Must be able to wear safety gear such as safety glasses and respirator.

- Must be qualified to work in the United States and have reliable personal transportation.

* Previous professional experience working in a boat yard or yacht service operation
* Multiple skillsets
* Good personal tool selection
* Excellent clean work habits, organizational and communication skills
* Exceptional attention to detail, multitasking capabilities
* Team player, work well with others
* Practical boating experience
* Valid WI driver’s license and reliable transportation
* Honest and dependable. On time. Job focused.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $27.00 per hour
