Job Title: HS FAMILY RESOURCE COORDINATOR

Classification: Full time/ Full year

Job Summary

Responsible for implementation of service areas as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards; Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework; and applicable program Policies and Procedures. Primary responsibilities include knowledge of child health requirements, implementation of individual family partnership agreements, provide support and referrals for families, and maintain a professional respectful attitude with parents, staff, and the community.

Education Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in Human Development, Social Work, or related fields (Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Human Services, or Criminal Justice).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employees occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hand, drive an automobile, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 15 lbs.

License/Training/Certifications

Social Work License preferred.

Job Requirements, Skills, & Responsibilities

Work hours as assigned by Children Services Supervisor; evening/weekend hours and overnight travel as needed; ability to travel from site to site providing own transportation; valid driver’s license; vehicle with adequate insurance coverage for on the job use; safe driving record; State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Record Check; Sex Offender Registry Check; Protective Services Record Check; Initial Health Assessment and required updates; prior to hire TB Risk Assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method; CPR/FA card; and food handlers card.

Experience in social work, case management, health, and home visiting or adult education; knowledge of geographic area, agencies, and services.

General skills necessary to perform your job functions: mathematical, spelling, grammar, organizational, communication skills, record keeping, and computer skills. Project a positive image of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program; function well within varying socio-economic groups; establishes a good rapport with clients and all staff; is flexible in adjusting plans to changes and emergencies; keep supervisor and appropriate staff informed of workload and developments; submit reports as required; attend, facilitate, and participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences relating to job function; maintain professional and ethical behavior at all times; adhere to all safety, conduct rules/regulations, policies, local, state, and federal mandates; complies with all HS Performance Standards and Head Start Act; adhere to NCWVCAA Employee Guidelines; demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts.

Maintain funded enrollment by recruiting, canvasing assigned areas, and building relationships with community partners. Complete applications and maintain an active waitlist of eligible enrollees. Conduct individualized home visits and make regular contact to meet the needs of enrolled families. Develop, track, and maintain individualized Family Partnership Agreements for enrolled families and children. Follow-up on irregular attendance of participants as outlined in the Center-Based Attendance and Absenteeism Policy and Procedure.

Manage children’s health records to ensure that all well child requirements are completed within timelines. Complete chart heights and weights for all children two (2) times a year. Complete consent for releases of information to obtain results of follow-up/referrals. Schedule and/or coordinate hearing tests, speech screenings and visual screenings for enrolled children and inform parents of results. Assist parent with scheduling and transportation, if necessary.

Attend and participate in staffing for all enrollees. Ensure follow-up and/or referral for any special health and developmental needs. Maintain computerized child/family files, entering data as received. Inform appropriate staff of children's medical problems. Obtain special diets and recommendations for children having such needs. Coordinate health and nutrition education for children and parents.

Provide information and assist parents with linkages to community resources. Maintain up to date individual family files as outlined in the mock file and input data in applicable data base system. Ensure volunteerism and documentation of in-kind contributions of volunteer services, goods, and space. Arrange or provide identified training, encouraging participation by parents and other volunteers. Coordinate and maintain county resource directory and parent bulletin board. Recruit parents to participate on agency committees and advisories. Contribute to the county newsletter.

Coordinate and conduct parent meetings, trainings, and other activities. Complete an orientation program for parents. Complete and submit all reports to immediate Supervisor. Complete staffing and coordinate home visits with classroom teachers. Assist bus drivers in determining bus routes for program enrollees. Other duties as assigned.
