University Housing & Dining (UH&D) is seeking a Facilities Mechanic III. Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.


The shift for this position is 8:00AM4:30PM, Monday through Friday, with on-call and overtime as necessary to meet departmental needs.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and
  • Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.

Special Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the UI Fleet Safety Driving Records Review Standards.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Working experience performing service or maintenance in a large facility (examples: residence hall, apartment complex, hospital, school, etc.)
