FACILITY MANAGER
Position:
Murray Grove’s Facility Manager is responsible for planned, preventative and reactive maintenance throughout the grounds to ensure that buildings and their features remain neat, well-maintained, and safe. We are looking for a highly organized, dependable facility manager to oversee the running of our buildings and grounds. The facilities manager is responsible for ensuring the upkeep of all utilities, services, and grounds. To be successful as a Facility
Manager, you should be accustomed to devising swift, innovative solutions that maintain and facilitate operations. A top-notch facilities manager will use information obtained during interactions with staff and guests to make our space more enjoyable for all. The Facility
Manager should have complete knowledge and a proven background of handyman skills and the ability to recognize building needs and repairs.

Murray Grove is a year-round retreat center nestled in the famous New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Inspired by the concept of radical hospitality, the Center serves people of diverse backgrounds both in person and on-line to provide opportunities for rest, renewal, inspiration, and growth.

Facility Manager Responsibilities:
- Conducts regular needs assessments to ascertain potential issues with the building and surrounds.
- Manages short-term and long-term budgets.
- Sources the services of professionals such as HVAC technicians, plumbers, and gardeners, as required.
- Schedules the cleaning and maintenance of amenities and grounds.
- Implements security measures within and outside of the facility.
- Negotiates the most favorable rates and compiling service agreements.
- Helps to develop, implement and lead safety trainings and programs within the association.
- Works in tandem with the Manager of Operations to ensure maintenance budget is adhered to and projects are prioritized appropriately.
- Provides leadership to opening and closing of on-site work exchange as assigned.
- Attends all mandatory meetings and trainings as directed.
- Manages and interacts with outside contractors.
- Interfaces with Fire Inspector, Health Inspector, and others as necessary for annual audits.
- Checks on building during shut-downs – some holidays required.
- Provides detailed notes and obtain photos for internal management.
- Manages project pricing and ensures budgets are maintained and adhered to.
- Escalates issues/concerns internally as needed.
- Ensures all follow-up recommendations are carried out with immediate effect and that all relevant paperwork and signoffs are completed.
- Prepares, monitors, and maintains an environment of continuous improvement through operational action plans and operating budgets.
- Builds, manages, and motivates a strong, competent team by developing employees to their full potential and by creating a culture of quality and achievement.
- Serves as part of the team visioning and implementing hospitality needs for guests, groups, and campers.
Facility Manager Requirements:
- Prior experience as a facilities manager or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety codes.
- Familiarity with maintenance requirements of old and new buildings.
- Outstanding negotiating and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Capacity to juggle multiple demands.
- Ability to tend to emergencies outside of normal working hours.
- Valid NJ Driver's License
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally to ensure safety requirements can be clearly understood. Comfort with email and text communication.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multi-task as necessary.
- A natural team leader with a confident, assertive but approachable personality.

Compensation: $25,000/year
Work Schedule: Average 25 hours per week, weekdays with some weekend, evening, and on-call work required.
Required License / Certification:
- Valid NJ Driver’s License
- Annual Criminal background checks: must have within 1 year (or may obtain)
- (CPO) certification; not required but an added value.
