Explosive Ordinance Disposal Specialist Job at AEVEX Aerospace

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze unknown munitions and explosives for intelligence agencies.
  • Detect, identify, recover, disarm and dispose of unsafe explosives and ordnance.
  • Identify the presence of chemical agents and assist with setup and operation of emergency contamination control stations and emergency personnel decontamination stations in such situations.
  • Monitor for the presence of radiation.
  • Read and interpret X-rays and diagrams, as well as other technical documents, and prepare technical intelligence and incident reports.
  • Provide formal instruction about unexploded ordnance to both military and civilian audiences.
  • Conduct nuclear weapon response.
  • Maintain equipment, technical data and vehicles.
  • Handles explosives regularly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High School degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of EOD experience
  • Knowledge of composition and characteristics of United States and foreign conventional, chemical, biological, improvised, and nuclear ordnance; basic electronics; precautions, tools, and protective equipment required for response to release of hazardous substances as operations level first responders and level three technicians; and proper handling, use, rendering safe, and treatment of hazardous explosive wastes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the level of clearance required
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Ability to remain calm under stress
  • Attention to detail
