We are seeking a diligent shop manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our company. In this role, you will supervise all shop personnel, oversee the management and maintenance of equipment, and ensure the efficiency of operations. You will also be required to manage inventory and enforce safety regulations.
To ensure success as a shop manager, you should be highly organized and have excellent communication skills with multiple personality types. Ultimately, a top-notch shop manager should be able to anticipate and address hindrances to operational efficiency.
Shop Manager Responsibilities:
- Supervising and training staff.
- Creating and managing the staff, maintenance, and work schedules.
- Overseeing work to anticipate, detect, and address factors that impede operations.
- Enforcing safety regulations and protocols.
- Conducting performance reviews with staff.
- Meeting with management to deliver feedback and develop work optimization strategies.
- Implementing strategies to optimize workflow and operational efficiency.
- Ensuring that all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained.
- Monitoring inventory levels and replenishing supplies as needed.
- Performing administrative tasks such as updating and filing equipment orders, stock receipts, and staff schedules.
- Occasionally run CNC Mills and Lathes as well as manual lathes.
- Support for design engineers on processes and techniques
- Assist in scheduling and purchasing
- Supervise all aspects of our manufacturing
- Manage shop personnel and monitor employee performance. Provide frequent constructive feedback to employees to encourage continued improvement
- Schedule machines and staff for maximum productivity
- Coordinate all labor and materials in the shop
- Assist and provide input with purchasing for items related to manufacturing
- Assist with any bottle-neck areas as needed to meet deadlines
- Administer company policies as necessary
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license.
- At least five year (5) experience as a shop manager or similar.
- At least 2- 5 years’ experience as a machinist
- Computer proficiency
- A great understanding of work optimization techniques.
- Good knowledge of the applicable safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills
- Good time management and problem-solving skills.
- A willingness to work long hours and overtime, if needed.
- Project Management experience
- Knowledge of machine tools and cutting
- Proven history pf process implementation or optimization

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (required), associates or bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in personnel management
- Valid driver’s license and clean DMV report (required)
- Experience with G-Codes, CAD/CAM, NX, CREO, Master CAM, Gibbs, or Espirit preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
