The Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the Standard Missile (SM) and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) Technical Representative Office (TechRep). This Software Engineer position is located in Tucson, Arizona and reports to the TechRep Program Manager. Experience in systems engineering processes and procedures is a desired attribute. An active Security Clearance of at least SECRET is required. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Supports Missile systems development and design work that may include trade studies, logic design, I/O design, firmware development, embedded code, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, analog or digital systems engineering, safety critical functions and product quality assurance activities.
• Supports and makes assessments of systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
• Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of system enhancements. Supports algorithm and software code peer reviews.
• Coordinate the execution of system engineering reviews IAW DOD Instruction 5000.02 and the NAVSEA TRM (Technical Review Manual).
• Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.
• Supports the development and execution of tests to ensure the system's hardware and software meets documented requirements.
• Work with designers and integration engineers to identify, analyze, and resolve operating/hardware system problems.
• Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance as required.
• Reviews system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
• Participates in special projects as required.
• Generates technical reports and white papers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
• Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment
• Professional certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.

Educational Background:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
• Minimum 7 years of related systems and software engineering experience.
