Executive Director, Wealth Management Securities-Based Lending and Margin Portfolio Credit Risk

Firm Risk Management

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks.

Background on the Position

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is seeking qualified candidates for a position in WM Credit to support its securities-based lending and margin portfolios. The individual will be responsible for analyzing, monitoring and providing 2nd line oversight and challenge to the credit risk across the portfolios and the margin requirements frameworks underpinning the products, reporting risk to Credit and Firm management, and assisting in the creation/updating of credit risk limits, key risk indicators, policies and procedures. The individual will work with Wealth Management business, risk and operations counterparts in managing the portfolios.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor account-level and portfolio-level risks for Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE’s securities-based lending and margin offerings across Wealth Management

  • Provide effective review and challenge to margin lending requirements and frameworks
  • Follow market developments and perform analysis to identify new or evolving risks across the portfolios

  • Establish and monitor risk indicators and limits and recommend actions to manage or mitigate risks in the portfolios

  • Create and present materials for colleagues, committees and management on risk trends, issues and proposals

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related or quantitative field

  • Previous experience (10+ years) in finance, market, or credit risk

  • Familiarity with capital markets and market risk, especially in equity options and futures

-Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills -Strong data analysis and synthesis skills (familiarity with broker/dealer margin systems a strong plus)

-Ability to work on multiple tasks accurately and with attention to detail in a fast paced, demanding environment -High energy level and the ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 160000 and 250000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
