ORI CES is seeking applicants for its Executive Director position.

ORI Community and Evaluation Services (ORI CES) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization dedicated to improving behavioral health and well-being at the community level by sponsoring and conducting service-oriented research and science-based program evaluation. We receive funding from local and state government, public charities, foundations, and private industry to create and disseminate research-based programs, conduct program evaluation, and offer other data services to community organizations, agencies, and services. Job Title: Executive Director

Time Commitment: Approximately 10-20 hours/week. In-person position located in Springfield, OR
Salary (hourly basis): up to $40.00/hour, depending on qualifications, with increases tied to fiscal development of the organization. SIMPLE IRA provided.

Position Overview
Provide administrative leadership for a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization. Work with Board of Directors to translate ORI CES’s mission into realistic objectives, and actions. Work with Office Manager and Administrative
Coordinator to oversee fiscal and organizational processes. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform a staff function to the Board of Directors, ensuring that adequate information is provided to enable informed decision-making, that agendas are provided in a timely, organized manner, and that staff work required by the Board is completed
  • Assist Board in developing and implementing a strategic plan for organizational growth and development, including entrepreneurial approaches to sustaining and growing funding for the organization and for this position
  • Research and apply for local, state, and federal grants
  • Develop relationships with research scientists and foundations to promote new grant applications
  • Network and build relationships with Oregon-based nonprofits and universities
  • Negotiate and develop contracts and budgets for new proposals
  • Implement an existing 9-month capacity-building grant to build relationships between ORI CES and nonprofits in

Oregon, to provide data services to nonprofits & training opportunities to underrepresented postdoctoral researchers

Knowledge, skill and ability

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of nonprofit rules and regulations
  • Knowledge and success in federal and/or foundation grant writing
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local grants administration desirable
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel preferred

Experience and training

  • Experience with grant budgets and contracts
  • Experience with analyzing financial statements and financial forecasting
  • Nonprofit or research organizational administration experience desirable
  • A degree in administration or a combination of equivalent education and work experience preferred
  • Experience with strategic and organizational planning and development
