Position Summary:

The Crisis Center, Inc., known and doing business as Listening Ear Crisis Center, is a private nonprofit United Way human service agency based in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan providing services across mid and northern Michigan. Governed by a volunteer board of directors, the organization is licensed by the State of Michigan and accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Families and Children, Inc.

Since its inception in 1969, Listening Ear has grown and evolved from a single service agency providing 24-hour crisis services for over 200 persons, to a multi-service organization serving over 30,000 persons annually.

Currently, the Agency has the following programs:

- Crisis Center: support, information, and referral 24 hours a day to callers needing information for services such as assistance for utilities, housing, small medical expenses, emergency food and shelter single family fires, military emergencies and more

- Residential Services Program: supports adults with developmental disabilities in AFC group home settings and their homes

- Children’s Sexual Abuse Treatment Program: individual, family and group counseling for children ages 3-17 in Isabella and Clare counties and surrounding area who have been victims of sexual abuse or incest

- Child Foster Care Program: children from birth-17 and focuses to assist older youth ages 10-17 with challenging needs to find permanent solutions

- Runaway Homeless Youth Program: serves youth ages 12-17 who have runaway, are homeless, at risk of running away or being homeless, or, have been involuntarily removed from their homes by their families

- Rental Housing Program: provides housing options to low and moderate income individuals and families

- Transitional Living Program: benefits older, homeless youth between 16-21 years old with guidance in help finding housing and a range of services for up to 18 months to succeed on their own.

The Executive Director acts with the authority and responsibility delegated by the Board of Directors and corporate bylaws, performing a variety of complex management activities to achieve the purpose, mission, goals, and objectives of the Agency. The Executive Director is responsible for (or assigning others for) personnel management, clinical supervision, financial and risk management, communications, continuous quality improvement, property management, the implementation of Agency policies, and delivery of services and programs.

Requirements:

- Master’s degree in a human behavioral science, or in another major where 25% of the course credits earned toward the degree are in human behavioral sciences, business administration, or public administration from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience in an agency or child caring institution, and at least 1 of which is in a management capacity

o OR A bachelor’s degree in a human behavioral science, or in another major where 25% of the course credits earned toward the degree are in human behavioral sciences, business administration, or public administration from an accredited college or university and 4 years of post- bachelor’s degree experience in an agency or child caring institution, at least 2 of which are in a management capacity.

- 1+ years of experience working with persons who are mentally ill, developmentally disabled, physically handicapped, and/or aged

- 5+ years of related leadership experience including a successful history of program development and implementation

- Demonstrated experience in working directly with a Board of Directors

- Demonstrated history of social advocacy

- Demonstrated competence in administering behavioral and/or medical services to families, adults, youth, and/or children

- Demonstrated competence to oversee human resources, financial management matters, quality improvement, fund development, public relations, business practices, and clinical services

- Three professional references

- Licensed or certified in the State of Michigan as it relates to their profession, if applicable

Compensation dependent upon education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $95,000.00 per year
