POSITION DESCRIPTION
:
The position’s core duties consist of a variety of duties to include, but not limited to, crowd control/direction (non-confrontational), pedestrian traffic control, vehicle traffic control, identification checks, building security, foot patrols of the State Fair Park grounds, bag checks at entrance gates, animal security, entertainer escorts and stage security as assigned. Event Support Staff must be dedicated to the safety and well-being of our State Fair guests and vendors while providing the utmost customer service.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE :
This position is an unclassified, seasonal Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system. This role will work in a full-time capacity over the 11-day annual Wisconsin State Fair, which includes weekends. There may be additional work hours offered before and/or after the annual fair. Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.
COMPENSATION :
The starting wage for this role is $13.25 per hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Specific Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist Public Safety personnel as directed
- Provides assistance to the public in emergency and non-emergency situation
- Takes appropriate action on matters affecting public safety and security
- Performs assignments and duties as assigned by supervisor
- Provides building, area, animal, property security functions
- Inspects, maintains and secures all assigned departmental issued equipment to ensure effective operating conditions are maintained
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS :
- The ability to work ALL 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair
- Must reside within 1-hour travel time of the Wisconsin State Fair Park
- Able to work cooperatively and harmoniously with the public and others
- Interact courteously with all levels of supervision
- Ability to understand and apply department protocols that are applicable to the position
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Proficiency in the use and maintenance of equipment applicable to the position
- Ability to successfully complete all mandatory training requirements applicable to position
Physical and Environmental Demands: :
- Regular: Standing, bending, use of both hands, arms and legs, simultaneous mental/muscular coordination, oral communication, hearing, near and far vision, depth perception, color identification, feeling, twisting and pressure involving wrists, arms and hands.
- Frequent: Walking, climbing stairs, balancing, reaching, repetitive finger movements.
- Occasional: Moderate and light lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling.
- Be able to perform duties in an outdoor setting including all weather conditions.
