ESOL Instructor Job at COLUMBIA GORGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Description: The ESOL instructor shall be responsible to the Dean of CTE, Precollege & ESOL for providing instruction and performing related duties as designated herein. This is a Fall 2022 in person assignment. Continuation of assignment past Fall term based on enrollment and need.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Advise and register students as requested.
- Write educational plans for individuals or groups, choosing appropriate delivery, curriculum, and materials to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Plan instructional lessons with regard to student need and current instructional strategies, techniques, and curriculum.
- Deliver instruction to designated student.
- Assist with curriculum development within the program and oversee quality of instruction.
- Participate in staff development activities. Attend department meetings.
- Evaluate educational materials for classroom use.
- Grade student coursework and assume responsibility for assigning grades. Assess student coursework and provide feedback to student
- Maintain required records.
- Help maintain a physical environment conducive to learning.
- Teach a varied schedule, including day and evening hours.
- Teach in lab, small group, and/or classroom settings as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean.
- Maintain appropriate professionalism and confidentiality.
- Work cooperatively with all staff members, including volunteers in the lab or classroom.

Requirements: EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Master’s in TESOL or equivalent educational experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience as an adult ESOL instructor.
- Ability to work with adults of varied abilities and backgrounds.
- Available to work a varied schedule.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough understanding of the curriculum in assigned instructional areas.
- Knowledge of instructional delivery, the elements of effective teaching and learning, and the principles of adult education.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, faculty, and students.
- Ability to work independently and supervise others.
- Strong commitment to student success.
- Strong commitment to innovation, collaboration, and quality.
- Willingness to work and/or travel on a flexible schedule.
- Ability to stay current in the field through professional development and self-study.
- Ability to use computer technology for communication and instructional purposes.

Salary $78.58/hr. dependent on enrollment.
Starting salary in accordance with the current faculty bargaining agreement.
