Job Description


Enterprise Senior Capability Manager will be expected to support a variety of different lines of business, regularly cycling on and off engagements at different stages within the project management lifecycle. This individual must possess mastery of analysis and investigation skills. He or she provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise. A candidate’s work is self-directed and not prescribed, focused on less structured, more complex issues. This individual must be a resource to others and fully proficient in the following aspects of capability management.


About the Role:

The Senior Capability Manager is accountable for the adoption and benefit delivery of the capability. The Capability Manager’s major responsibilities include engaging with the businesses to understand their needs; then designing and articulating how the capability can solve problems and deliver benefits. The Capability Manager works closely with the “Agile Capability Owners” to ensure business use cases and requirements are built into the backlogs and prioritized in accordance with the capability roadmap. In addition, the Capability Manager will work to align Capability roadmaps across the business domains.


The Capability Manager needs to be able to navigate the enterprise, build relationships, and gain a firm understanding of each businesses needs to be successful. They work closely with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) and Execution Leads to ensure business needs are being delivered according to expectations. They own the business relationships, backlog prioritization, and overall capability roadmap. The Capability Manager is responsible and empowered with the authority to make decisions that impact the platform and does so in alignment with Optum business strategy and governance.


Required:

§ 7-10 years of experience in an agile environment with 4+ years of experience in product/capability management type responsibilities

§ CA Agile (formerly known as Rally), Aha, or equivalent agile deployment technology

§ Expert Level Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Visio, OneNote, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)

§ Understanding of Kafka / data mapping / streaming in a cross-functional space (Kafka is used for data streaming/integration similar to an API)


Preferred Plus

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience, masters level preferred
  • 4-6+ years of experience in project/program leadership highly desirable
  • 4-6+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum highly desirable
  • Salesforce experience highly desirable
  • Experience in a large matrix environment
  • Experience in the case management / issue management domain, but domain expertise not required


Preferred

  • Six Sigma experience desirable
