We are now hiring for a part-time Adult Education ESL Instructor to join our Howard
Area Adult Education and Employment Team!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Classroom

• Develops class syllabi, sample lesson plans, and appropriate class materials and curriculum for classroom instruction.
• Provide relevant, rigorous, and learner-centered instruction.
• Incorporate best practices into instruction.
• Design and deliver curriculum and lessons that are aligned to College and

Career Readiness and ICCB content standards.

• Develop and/or review an individual education plan (IEP) with each learner
• Possess digital literacy and technology skills to teach a zoom or hybrid class if necessary and complete administrative duties.

Data & Accountability

• Keep accurate records of learner attendance and enters attendance in DAISI daily.
• Report personnel activity according to HACC’s cost allocation plan standards.
• Helps administrators track student data, including updating biographical information, student achievements, etc.
• Meet and report professional development requirements.
• Report time worked as required by HACC’s cost-allocation policies.

Team Collaboration

• Evaluates student progress and extra instruction needs.
• Refer learners with special needs to the Supervisor for additional services
• Participate in regular staff meetings and collaborations with Adult Education staff and administrations.
• Contribute to the selection of project materials, shared lesson plans, and curricula resources and provides student work samples as examples of their progress
• Assist the program in incorporating civics and workforce content cohesively throughout the program.
• Assist the education supervisor with registration, pre- and post-testing and orientations.
• Participate in project recruitment and retention activities.
• Support the Supervisor in meeting the goal requirements of program funders.
• Assist with the quarterly and yearly student recognition events.
• Perform other relevant duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university in English, Linguistics,

TESOL, or a related field

• Has demonstrated success in the classroom developing and utilizing highly effective teaching strategies that meet students' diverse needs and promote the acquisition and application of knowledge as well as the development of critical and creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Submit sample lesson plans, syllabi and/or teaching portfolio that reflect skills in area(s) of instruction, including computer literacy and adult learning practices
• Resume reflects knowledge of current adult education classroom assessment techniques
• Able to complete a satisfactory teaching demonstration
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
• Availability to work a flexible schedule

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved

Medical exemption prior to starting employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time and frequently talk and engage with adult learners
