Position Brand Description:

This position is an entry to mid-level engineering position in the FUME (facilities, utilities, maintenance and engineering) Business Operations department. The Engineer or Specialist will support the Engineering and Maintenance groups in the acquisition (or decommission) of equipment into Manufacturing, Utility or Lab areas. The Engineer or Specialist will perform Risk Assessments on systems and consult with vendors to create robust maintenance plans to extend the life of equipment in our Facilities. The Engineer or Specialist will also support the Reliability Engineering team to provide maintenance data and execute projects that improve the efficiency of the Maintenance Department. When excursions are reported in the Maintenance Department with critical equipment, the Engineer or Specialist will lead or assist with the investigation of the event to determine both root cause and corrective/preventative actions. This position will assist or lead in documenting, organizing and coordinating activities such as CMMS support, deviation investigations, reliability, asset disposition, lean practices, process optimization, technical investigations, and change controls.


Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Manage for Results /Strategic Planning:

  • Perform risk assessments on systems to improve maintenance plans and spare parts safety stocks.
  • Create or revise Standard Operating Procedures and Job Plans to improve site’s maintenance programs and to support equipment additions and changes.
  • Support Capital engineering projects to represent Maintenance to ensure proper records including spare parts and procedures are upgraded as a result of the project.
  • Independently run Reliability projects under the direction of the Reliability engineer.
  • Process equipment Acquisitions and Decommissions including all associated activities.
  • Work in Trackwise electronic document system to manage changes to GMP equipment and systems.
  • Work in Trackwise electronic document system to investigate Deviations and complete FUME related Action Records.
  • Assist Maintenance Scheduler/Planners with coordinating shutdowns, as necessary for project work.
  • Perform periodic review of departmental procedures.
  • Work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to create and revise job plans.
  • Complete FBO Action Records and support Engineering Change Controls by completing FBO summaries.
  • Provide oversight for the Pest Control program.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural and preferred).
  • Preferably a minimum of 2 - 5 years of working in a cGMP environment in a Facilities or Engineering Capacity; would consider recent graduates or candidates with 0+ years of experience.

Additional Preferences:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite and Maximo a plus.
  • Experience in Plant/Facilities, Maintenance, or Engineering for the pharmaceutical/biotechnology section seen as a plus.
  • Project Management, problem solving and team building skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple improvement projects.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed personality with the ability to work both independently and with teams.
  • Fast learner on new software systems.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities.

  • Travel may be required.
  • Lifting required up to 50 lbs.
  • Not required to be on call.
