Position: Principal Electrical Engineer

Worksite: 181 W Huntington Drive, Monrovia, CA 91016

Responsibilities: Lead the development of energy, renewables, oil, gas, and/or chemical plants electrical and power system design, construction, and commissioning. Responsible for project development from preliminary engineering to detail design, construction, and final safe turnover. Manage electrical engineering services that meet company’s, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget applying knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications. Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, and arc flash using advanced power system program software such as ETAP, SPEL, CYME, and SKM. Design and develop single line diagrams, schematics, and wirings for all electrical and process equipment. Develop electrical equipment data sheets and requisitions, perform vendor evaluation, technical clarifications, bid analyses, and conduct vendor document review and approval for manufacture. Attend factory equipment functional acceptance testing. Manage electrical team throughout all execution phases of the project. Mentor less experienced engineers and designers and develop their technical skills for current as well as future projects. Perform occasional site visits to assess existing facility conditions and gather information to implement in new design. Prepare and stamp as a licensed professional engineer (PE) electrical permit/plan check packages for County/City permitting. Perform as engineer of record (EoR) for the permitted design packages. Attend weekly technical clarification and coordination meetings with client, vendors, and other project teams. Support construction and provide field engineering support through the construction, site equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, and startup of project.


MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Fifteen (15) years of post-baccalaureate progressive electrical engineering experience, including experience in Energy, renewables, oil, gas, and/or chemical plants electrical and power system design, construction, and commissioning, experience using relevant electrical engineering specific analytical software such as ETAP, SPEL, etc.; must include at least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering in the oil and gas industry including experience working in multi-disciplinary projects or teams.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Professional Engineer (PE) License (State of California)


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 5% travel to project sites
