Position Overview: EHS Manager
Work with the facility managers, associates and the corporate EHS staff to develop and maintain a total EHS culture focused on risk management, compliance and engagement. Drive continuous improvement in EHS through involvement, ownership, education/training, recognition, ongoing program assessment and leadership. Serve as a point of expertise and leadership for EHS issues as they arise.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction in the development, administration and maintenance of EHS systems and continuous EHS improvement initiatives as they apply to the operations and facility
- Organize compliance into a management system that meets and maintains certification criteria
- Develop, implement and revise training programs to maintain employee engagement
- Participate in the fulfilment of compliance requirements and ESAB business standards; apprise facility management of EHS issues and performance as needed
- Nurture an empowered and proactive EHS culture; provide leadership, guidance and instruction to drive organization towards articulated goals and continuous improvement
- Partner with ESAB Corporate and Regional EHS team
- Perform or oversee investigation and corrective action for upset conditions, missed targets, accidents or other EHS non-conformances
- Develop and manage annual EHS budget, be accountable for EHS expenses and budget
- Collaborate with HR to manage facility workers’ compensation claims; assist with insurance issues and management as necessary
- Serve as local incident commander in crisis events
- Serve as a resource and contributor to the site’s Risk Management Program – support property and business interruption insurance surveys and visits
Qualifications

- English
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene or a related line of study
Technical Requirements
- Prior experience in a union environment helpful
- Detailed understanding and previous involvement in formal EHS Management Systems
- Excellent communication and motivational skills, at all levels from factory floor to the senior management offices
- Experienced in development of education and training programs
- Trainer certifications/qualifications a desirable attribute.
- Membership within EHS Professional organizations such as the ASSP, AIHA or NSC desired
- CIH, CSP and/or CHMM certifications preferred
- Strong experience with MS Office, particularly Excel, is a must. Experience with SAP, MS Access, and/or a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is a plus
- Human Relation Skills – ability to manage job and interpersonal relationships in a professional manner suitable for a supportive work environment; must be a “team player” and willing to support co-workers & staff

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience manufacturing and/or managing EHS programs preferably in an engineering /industrial environment
- Self-motivated and willing to take on additional responsibilities
- Must have excellent multi-tasking skills
- Maintains proactive and positive relationships with others in a team atmosphere
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US; sponsorship not supported for this role
Mobility & Travel Requirements
- Travel – up to 15%
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
