The Sheppard Pratt School - Millersville Elementary School is a 10-month special education program, located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, serving students ages four to 11 in grades K-5 with autism spectrum disorder, emotional disabilities and other health impairments.
The Sheppard Pratt School - Severn River Middle School has an exciting opportunity for an Educational Assistant! The Educational Assistant provides overall assistance in the classroom to support the teacher and/or work with an assigned student in a one-to-one relationship. This individual is responsible for providing additional structure, supervision, and instruction to assist the teacher in achieving the goals and objectives of the student's Individual Education Program (IEP). The Educational Assistant works independently within the guidelines and direction of the supervising teacher providing educational support and behavior management, documents student progress, and serves as an escort to students during school or program activities. Bachelor's prepared Educational Assistants may be responsible for leading classroom activities in the absence of the supervising teacher. Our full-time Educational Assistants in the Hannah More School Programs work 8 hours per day (40 hours per week).
High school diploma required – bachelor's degree and experience working in special education and/or with individuals with autism/severe behavioral and academic issues strongly preferred. Work requires physical preparedness to manage and physically restrain aggressive students effectively. Work requires potential exposure to the risk of physical injury from combative and assaultive students.
