Job Summary:

Provide quality professional development, content support, and technical assistance through ongoing mentoring and coaching for staff. Follow PBC guidelines to provide education staff support with effective teaching practices that lead to positive outcomes for children, and to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations, performance measures related to early childhood services. Must maintain CLASS Reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Creates and provides professional development for staff, parents, and others involved in the Head Start Program.
Supports PEDM with planning and facilitation of all staff events and/or training days.
Assists HR events as needed (ex. Open houses, Engagement Activities).
Maintains up to date documentation for annual HSPS required courses in the LMS (ex. 1st Aid and CPR).
Adds documentation to LMS for All Staff events and their own trainings.
Adds trainings and/or resources monthly to the LMS.
Uses adult learning theory and agency data to create at least 2 Ohio Approved training per year.
Submits all created trainings that meet submission guidelines to OCCRRA.
Facilitates RETI trainings as needed (typical load is 2 courses).
Completes PBC training with updates as needed.
Meets HSPS and PBC requirements for coaching by facilitating PBC Coaching through 1.) intensive one-on-one coaching (4 mentees) and 2.) TLC, small group coaching (2 groups for up to 16 staff).
Utilize agency Practice-Based Coaching Model for assessing needs, engaging in focused observations, providing reflection and feedback in order to set goals and develop Action Plans.
Completes 2-3 coaching cycles (observation & coaching meetings) per month per mentee that are documented on an Action Plan.
Provide constructive feedback and on-site support for teaching practices for increasing teacher confidence and competence. This may include modeling, observing, video reflection, and providing resources.
Creates and facilitates 1-2 Learning Communities (15-30 staff) per year.
Submits coaching data weekly to PDEM. Completes monthly report for HR Director.
Develops and maintains schedules for on-site visits and observations using the shared Outlook calendar.
Each summer, analyzes data to determine upcoming year’s focus areas for coaching. Creates the Strengths Assessment to collect staff data in those areas.
Each fall, analyzes Strengths Assessment data to determine sorting of staff into coaching groups (ex. PBC one-on-one, TLC, LC, self-guided).
Maintains current knowledge in the area of early childhood research, curriculum, assessment, developmental growth of children, and building collaborative adult learning strategies.
Participates in initial and ongoing professional development for providing effective mentor/coach activities, provide expertise on theory and practice that support children’s development.
Completes a minimum of 15 HSPS PD hours and all required training hours.
Attends agency, departmental, and interdisciplinary level meetings to coordinate services.
Serves on committees as needed (ex. CDAT, Engagement, All Staff, SRLT).
Maintains confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as required.

Have knowledge and experience supporting the implementation of high-quality teaching and instructional practices for highlighting the powerful impact of teacher-child interactions and intentional approaches on school readiness and later school success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, required. Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, preferred. Minimum three (3) years of experience of early childhood education experience.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

This is remote position with the expectation that coaches will be in centers completing observation/mentee meetings 2-3 days per week.

The work environment includes indoor office environments or comparable spaces, classrooms, and community spaces, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather when traveling to home visits and meetings.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
