DSHS Office Chief of Policy, Training, Quality Improvement, IDR
As a member of the Aging and Long Term Support Administration's (ALTSA) executive management team this Office Chief is responsible for planning, directing and the overall leadership of four specialized units within the Residential Care Services (RCS). These units consist of the Policy Unit, the Quality Improvement Unit, the Training Unit, and the Informal Dispute Resolution Unit.
In this role, you will have the ability to be a part of influencing regulations of the certified and licensed long-term care settings on a statewide level. This is an opportunity to positively impact the lives of thousands of residents living in long-term care settings, and to assist over 4500 Long-term care providers in providing high quality care and services by assuring clarity in the regulations as well as adequate trainings that assist with understanding the requirements.
You will become the leader of a group of highly trained and qualified policy analysts, trainers, and quality improvement professionals who contribute daily to the agency mission of Transforming Lives.
Some of what you’ll do:
Provide expert level advice and support at the statewide level related to the divisions regulatory work to include rule making, developing, implementing, and revising standard operating procedures- Program development for all work done as part of the division's quality improvement activities including oversights of all division-wide Corrective Action Plans (CAP) and Process Improvement Plans (PIP)
- Direct the division's new staff orientation, ongoing staff training needs, and quality improvement activities including ensuring the training program for federally required work meets federal requirements
- Continual coordination with both state and federal stakeholders in all regulatory matters
- Ability to lead teams
- Strong active learning skills
- Willingness to learn and accept new ideas
- Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills
- Mediation and problem resolution skill
Master's degree in social work, health or social science, public administration, or related field
AND at least seven years of experience in state level policy development and implementation
AND at least seven years of experience supervising staff at a professional/managerial level and administering programs
