About the Role

As Document Control Specialist, you will be supporting the development and introduction of Harman’s Professional Products through processing and reviewing engineering documentation. Also, you will be ensuring that Harman standard conventions and processes are followed, including utilizing Harman’s PLM system for document storage, change management, and release processes.


What You Will Do

  • Facilitate Change Review Board and actively participate in Engineering Change Notices to ensure adequate participation, completeness, and accuracy of work performed.
  • Follow up KPIs and initiate actions for improvements and generate reports and statistical graphs and charts.
  • Manage materials (Parts, End Items), BOM structures, and Lifecycle states in various systems (CIS, PLM and ERP) and according to established business requirements.
  • Complete change tasks and workflows in a timely manner and according to business standards.
  • Support various teams (Project and Product Managers, Design and Sustaining Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.) on the development activities of new and existing products and the associated technical documents.
  • Lead and/or participate in user training sessions.
  • Create and update department and business procedures, user guides and training videos.

What You Need

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts or a combination of relevant education plus sufficient experience in a technical environment.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in engineering documentation (i.e. Change and Life Cycle Management and Parts and associated Documents).
  • Identify and address problems early, ensuring that products and services are delivered on time, within budget, and meet customer expectations.
  • Proficient in PC use, including Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel in a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in consumer electronics manufacturing, product development, and quality assurance.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment and have exposure to working in a global cross-functional matrixed environment.

What is Nice to Have

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and standardize technical procedures.
  • Experience with PLM system, preferably PTC, Windchill; material master data in ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Lean / Kaizen (Six Sigma) – basic understanding of concepts and tools (5 why, Fishbone diagram)
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and operating or training procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, engineering staff, and production areas.
  • Ability to teach, train, and support engineers on technical processes.

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 5%, domestically and internationally travel.
  • Be willing to work in an office in the Dallas, TX metro area of the United States. (Hybrid work model).
