SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Clinical Consultant to join our team.
Purpose of this position: The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Clinical Consultant is knowledgeable about culture, organizational development, human behavior, DEI, and health equity. Builds working relationships with individual contributors, as well as leaders in the department, unit, or team that they oversee. The DEI clinician learns about the projects, initiatives, and barriers each team or unit is facing that could impact DEI. Responsible for developing a strong working relationship with the teams, understanding the group dynamics, learning the team’s culture to customize appropriate DEI intervention to the specific needs of the team or team members. Provides “in the moment” DEI interventions to promote continued growth and behavior change. Communicates the health equity needs of their assigned area to the Director of Health Equity Education.
DEI Clinical Consultant roles are specifically to partner with the following departments: Critical Care Units (MICU, SICU, Burn), Med Surge Units (CaRe/CMIC, Inpatient Medicine, MedSurge Ortho, STNU), Emergency Medicine (ED, EMS, APS, RTU), Inpatient Psychiatry, Women’s and Children’s Units (Pediatric inpatient, Birth Center, NICU), Surgical Services, and EMS.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for health equity and DEI related oversight of several units, departments, or clinics
- Is to be onsite, rotating between each location the clinician oversees
- Conducts regular consultation to team members
- Offer open door policy for team members to approach with DEI or HE questions or needs
- Actively partake in department meetings with an equity lens
- Utilize clinical skills to assess for both systemic and interpersonal gaps or needs related to DEI
- Provide therapeutic intervention utilizing different evidence-based techniques (e.g., exposure, effective listening, motivational interviewing, and others)
- Integrate into department by building relationships with leaders, team members, and patients as appropriate
- Collaborate with Health Equity Educators and Patient Navigators as needed to provide a holistic, 360 degree approach to health equity
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Psychology or Social Work, doctorate degree preferred
- 2 years of related experience in a clinical setting

- An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed Psychologist or LICSW
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledgeable on systems theory, human behavior, historical trauma, physiology of stress, anxiety, and trauma
- Well versed in evidence-based interventions for working with individuals, couples, family
- Extensive knowledge on DEI and health equity
- Skilled in case conceptualization
- Knowledgeable about the impact of systems on individual behavior
- Skilled at providing in the moment feedback
- Skilled at de-escalation
- Trained in motivational interviewing
