Dispatcher Job at Walgre Transport Inc.
Walgre Transport is a trucking company with terminals in Canada and USA. We are looking for dispatchers for our Daleville, IN location. The Dispatcher role will provide information to customers in response to inquiries about services, in addition to assisting individuals interested in placing orders. The Dispatcher will receive, review and dispatch orders. The Dispatcher will receive, document, and resolve customer complaints. As a truck dispatcher, you work with vendors, clients, drivers, and other logistics personnel by phone or email. Truck dispatchers use computer systems to track delivery trucks as they are en-route, ensuring that the goods arrive on time and undamaged. If there are any issues along the way, such as severe weather or a vehicle maintenance problem, the truck dispatcher is responsible for informing the receiving company.
Primary Activities:
- Check drivers in every morning and state what zip/area they are checking in at
- Full Screen and Dispatch incoming orders from customers via telephone or email
- Book loads with Broker contacts or utilize load boards to ensure drivers are able to stay moving.
- Respond promptly to customer/drivers inquiries
- Ensure that issues are resolved both promptly and thoroughly.
- When handling an issue, keep the driver informed and updated.
- Utilize the standby list to coordinate loads with the drivers who have checked in and are ready to be dispatched.
- Maintain a balance between company policy and customer/driver benefit in decision-making.
- Record details of inquiries, comments, and complaints from customers and drivers
- Communicate and coordinate with internal and external departments regarding dispatch, customer service, and drivers.
- Keep track of any loads that a driver turns down
- Continuously scroll the board. Look for potential issues, before they happen! Be Proactive!
- Call Driver on OTR order and ask them what their ETA for delivery is and inform the Broker/ Receiver as well as our customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound judgment and critical thinking
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment in high-pressure situations
- Must be skilled in multi-tasking
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and DOT requirements
- Experience in customer service
Experience:
- Dispatching: 2 year (Preferred)
- Customer service: 3 years (Preferred)
- DAT Load board: 2 year (Preferred)
