GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Director of Taxation is responsible for overall corporate tax planning and compliance, minimization of tax risks, and tax filing activities. Primary objectives are US Federal, State, and International tax planning for entities by interpreting tax regulations, completing corporate tax returns, and ensuring full compliance. Works directly with Loram financial management, third-party service providers as well as liaison with Canadian parent company finance personnel. International taxation, mergers/acquisitions, and contractual tax language skills are extremely important responsibilities to support Loram’s global expansion.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Financial Management
· Coordinate all aspects of Loram’s International tax issues such as foreign tax credit, branch reporting, check the box reporting, foreign compliance, and informational returns. Engage and coordinate foreign country accounting firms as appropriate for accurate local reporting of Loram activity.
· Responsible for timely and accurate completion of Federal, State, International, Local, and special tax returns by collecting, analyzing, and formatting financial information.
Strategic and Functional
· Research, provide support, and propose recommendations for complex international tax issues like permanent establishment in foreign countries, transfer pricing documentation, country-by-country reporting, dividend policies, new GILTI, FDII, and BEAT principles/impacts, and foreign non-resident withholding rules.
· Research, document, and propose appropriate tax savings strategies to minimize effective tax rates, comply with applicable laws and regulations and mitigate tax risks.
· Review, edit and revise contractual language for customer sales/services contracts to prevent and/or minimize Loram’s tax risks and liabilities related to in-country activities in multiple jurisdictions.
Compliance
· Represent Loram before US, Foreign, and Local tax authorities for audits, issue resolution, accounting method changes, and various inquiries.
· Focus resources on calculations for the R&D credit, foreign tax credit, interest limitation, GILTI, FDII, BEPS, BEAT, and other major book/tax differences.
· Ensure tax compliance for Federal/State/International quarterly estimated tax payments by calculating accurate taxable income projections. Responsible for coordination of tax provision process for multiple entities/jurisdictions at year-end and identifying/evaluating Loram’s uncertain tax positions.
Leadership and Talent Development
· Continuously enhance knowledge of tax law and minimization strategies across Federal, State, and International jurisdictions. Assume an active role to educate the organization concerning tax implications related to various transactions, activities, or initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Experience in Monitoring significant Federal and State income tax law changes that materially impact Loram. Monitor, review and suggest innovative improvements for existing internal tax policies. Periodically review existing and potential technology improvement tools to drive efficiencies. Advocate for internal programming where appropriate to automate recurring compliance tasks.
· Proactively interact with business units to understand the activity, collect information, and analyze data to comply with respective jurisdictional regulations. Examples include importer of record practices, customs VAT/GST rules, refund claims, employee taxable benefits, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
Licenses/Certifications: CPA certification
Experience: 12+ combined years of relevant work experience with public accounting and industry positions, including at least 4 years of corporate tax experience in US Federal, multi-state, local with a strong emphasis on International tax issues/principles. 6+ years of experience and proficiency with tax research and compliance software products. Detail-oriented and Excel / Microsoft Suite proficient. Extensive knowledge of US GAAP tax accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Advanced Degree in Taxation
Memberships: AICPA and TEI
Experience: CorpTax tax provision software

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
