Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Operations & ESG, the Director, Operational Excellence will lead the framework to drive Operational Excellence culture, and own and maintain the Continuous Improvement system and processes. The role will identify and develop improvement targets for all aspects of SSR’s business lines and assist operations to achieve the targets. This position will be based in the Denver office, working a hybrid-remote schedule.
The Day to Day:
  • Provide the framework, coaching, and support to promote and embed an Operational Excellence (OE) culture of sustainable Continuous Improvement (CI).
  • Assist with deployment of formal and hands-on training and facilitating of OE related philosophies and CI processes.
  • Liaise closely as a customer to the Innovation Team to conduct advanced data analytics (AA) as part of focused improvement initiatives or continuous process monitoring (including but not limited to data collection plans, creating KPIs, run charts or dashboards, FMEA, developing visual management boards, root cause analysis). Use outputs to identify, structure, and oversee or support the sites with targeted improvement projects or campaigns that drive value.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of detailed CI project workflows, processes, standards, procedures, reporting, and lessons learned (fast fail and celebrating wins).
  • Assist sites with the structuring of the annual OE program, taking inputs from the Strategic Business Plan (SBP), annual business planning process and other business priorities.
  • Lead the development and execution of the annual OE program for the corporate office.
  • Support to sites OE leaders to progress OE deliverables.
  • Deliver a “One Version of the Truth” approach to companywide CI project pipeline value and proven CI project realized benefits at any point in time from both a financial and ESG perspective.
  • Liaise with Innovation on the design, development, testing, adoption, and support of all data driven CI strategic solutions such Value Driver Tree, dynamics reporting, data analytics and visualization. Provide management and corporate technical teams with insights and recommendations for decision making and strategic planning.
  • Manage external service providers, universities and other consultants engaged by SSR to assist in driving OE culture.
Is This You?
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science, preferable in a mining related discipline.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of related experience, preferable within a resource-based organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Operational Excellence as a philosophy and the principles which drive purpose, process, and people to achieve Operational Excellence, with Shingo ModelTM certification highly regarded.
  • Excellent data and business analysis skills - detailed analysis and definitions of KPIs, measures, business logic and calculations, reporting requirements, process mapping, data collection, root cause analysis, hypothesis testing, statistical analysis.
  • Certified (or working towards certification) as six sigma green belt, additional certification in Lean and/or Kaizen is a plus.
  • Proficient as facilitator of workshops and process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies (DMAIC, A3, SIPOC, VOC, process mapping, value stream mapping, FMEA, 5 Whys, 5S, visual management, fishbone, waste analysis, standard work).
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization both written and oral.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and handle the pressure of last-minute requests with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to compile, manipulate & analyze data to critically assess operational efficiency and effectiveness, including root cause analysis, hypothesis testing and statistics.
  • Ability to link impact of operational efficiency metrics to business outcomes (i.e. revenue, cost) through financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across the organization driving change through positive influence to achieve results and buy-in from management team to the front-line.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish or Turkish language would be a definite asset. International travel will be required.
For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $160,000 to $210,000
