BASIC FUNCTION:
Manages and directs the underwriting activities for the Commercial Channel. Supervises, trains and develops personnel in credit analysis and underwriting, loan structuring, loan servicing and covenant monitoring. Completes thorough analysis of approval requests associated with large and complex credits, ensuring that all such loan actions are within existing Association policy, procedure, and overall risk standards. Responsible for approval/denial of such loan actions through either the utilization of individual delegated authority or recommendation to a higher level of authority (i.e. Loan Committee, CRM, or CCO). Actively participates in borrower meetings, including prospects and negotiations. Provides leadership and support to credit staff on complex problem credits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Supervises personnel and assists with selection, hiring, training and evaluation. Makes recommendations to the Underwriting & Credit Delivery Executive(s) on promotions, salary changes, organization and staffing for the associated Regional Underwriting Department. Ensures effective leadership, management and controls are in place for effective customer service, and appropriate risk control. Matches experience and abilities of staff with assigned loan transactions.

Recommends the approval/denial of actions to designated loan committees and approves designated actions through the use of individual delegated authority. Proactively consults and coordinates with staff to provide assistance and support for large and complex loan originations.

Provides oversight of the loan portfolio. Reviews reports on covenant monitoring, loan servicing and workflow processes. Responsible for ensuring that an effective covenant monitoring process is in place for the region’s loan portfolio. Coordinates with the Internal Audit departments on internal credit reviews to monitor credit quality, and adherence to all Association credit policy and procedure.

Collaborates with training and development staff to coordinate, develop and deliver credit training programs to ensure new and seasoned credit staff receives regular trainings aligned with identified credit needs. Mentors and coaches credit staff via frequent feedback provided through the loan review and approval process.

Actively involved in the oversight and management of delinquent loan servicing and loan restructuring activities, working with credit staff and legal counsel to identify and act on distressed loans.

Works closely with associated Regional Banking Executives, Lending Managers, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Loan Officers, Loan Documentation and Operations Support to ensure that loans are processed in an efficient and timely manner while providing a hassle free customer service experience.

LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:
Provides direct supervision and oversight to designated staff within the Underwriting department; makes independent decisions; works under the supervision of the Underwriting & Credit Delivery Executive.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

BA/BS degree with emphasis on agriculture, agribusiness, business administration, or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience in credit, finance, or underwriting within a financial institution.

Ten years of banking or related agricultural lending experience.
-
Working knowledge of agricultural lending principles and practices, and Association and FCS operating policies and procedures.

Knowledge of FCA regulations, policies and procedures.

Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and maintain business functions.

Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated proficiency in leading and motivating others.

Exceptional ability to make sound decisions involving varied levels of risks and ambiguity. Balances competing priorities in reaching decisions.

High level of objectivity, empathy and diplomacy to establish and maintain an effective on-going relationship between departments, customers, bank, and regulatory agencies.

Ability to use software and information technology to collect, organizes, retrieve, maintain and disseminate information. Ability to use technology in new or complex situations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office setting. Employee will be sitting for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period of time. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID: These employees will work partly remote and partly onsite. Part-time remote employees will work with their managers to determine when and how often they are needed onsite.
PAY RANGE:
Minimum - $155,156.63 - Max - $223,425.54
This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
