Oglethorpe University is seeking an energetic, innovative, and student-centered leader to serve as the inaugural director of the Intercultural Center. Reporting to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Intercultural Center director will provide leadership for the development and implementation of programs and services which offer support, advocacy, engagement, and sense of belonging for students from historically marginalized and excluded identities. The Center Director will also provide educational opportunities for all students to develop deeper understandings of and more effective skills in participating in a diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus community and world. The director will develop programming and advising models that recognize the complex intersections that shape individual and collective identities and will integrate an intersectional approach in all the Centers work. The Director will be an integral member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team and will have the many opportunities to contribute to university wide efforts to promote inclusive excellence, belonging, thriving and persistence.

Duties and Responsibilities:*
- Establish strategic vision, annual goals, objectives, learning outcomes, advising, programming, and assessment plans for the Intercultural Center
- In collaboration with key campus partners, promote the academic success, engagement, belonging, and wellness for BIPOC and other historically marginalized students utilizing an intersectional perspective
- Assess student needs and offer strategies to enhance Oglethorpes commitment to a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and transformational learning environment
- Develop a positive and supportive rapport with students based on respect, civility, inclusion, and mentorship
- Create opportunities for students to develop intercultural communication and community building skills, including conflict resolution
- Offer opportunities for students to engage meaningfully across differences within and among communities and affinity groups
- Provide advising, mentoring, and organizational and leadership development to student organizations representing affinity or identity-based constituencies supported by the Center
- Develop peer leadership programs that empower students to create diverse and inclusive communities on and off campus and support each others success
- Participate in key university events and programming including but not limited to DEI education and training, admissions and recruitment, academic success, orientation, residential life, student engagement, student leadership development, experiential learning, alumni and family engagement, and career readiness
- Manage the Intercultural Center space and budget and explore opportunities for grants and other forms of fundraising
- Explore and keep abreast of opportunities for off-campus partnerships with Atlanta-area organizations with related missions
- Serve on university committees as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or Counseling, with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion, or related field.
- Three to five years of experience in the field of multicultural or intercultural affairs or diversity, equity, and inclusion in a college or university setting. Experience in community-based organizations with related missions will also be considered.
- A proven track record of success developing and implementing initiatives, supporting students, leading staff, and creating meaningful relationships with multiple constituencies
- Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including a collaborative and team-oriented work style
- Ability to work with diverse populations and knowledge of key related subject areas
- Demonstrated experience building positive relationships and partnerships with campus constituencies
- Capacity to be innovative, self-directed, and collaborative
- Demonstrated proficiency in assessment and data-informed strategy development
Other Information
- This is a full-time, 12-month position.
- Working some evenings and weekends required.
- Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person. Work from home options may be granted at supervisors discretion. Oglethorpe University reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
