Founded in 2011, Philadelphia based Evil Genius Beer Company is a Regional Craft Brewery sold in CT, DE, MA, MD, MI, NJ, OH, PA, RI, and VA.
The wholesale division comprises three business units including the Evil Genius Beer Company’s brands, heritage brands such as Stoudts Brewing Company, and unique Collaborations and New Age products produced in conjunction with national brands.
Our mission is to build and acquire new brands, expand to new territories, and grow Evil Genius into a top 50 brewing company in the US in the next 5 years.
About This Role:
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the Evil Genius sales team to meet company sales KPIs and growth goals by market and by channel. Team coaching, development, and process enablement will ensure best practices are adhered to consistently across the organization. Building strong relationships across the growing distribution network and among key account partners will be key to the success of this position.
The ideal candidate is an experienced & strategic Sales Team leader with a proven track record of growing brands, successfully expanding into new territories, developing team members, and creating strategies to grow sales in all markets. Must be data-driven, people-focused, and as fearless as the Evil Genius beer itself.
Essential Job Functions:
Sales Strategy Development
- Develop sales goals & plans by market
- Build sales goals for sales managers, regional sales people, and chain directors
- Create programs to drive distribution & ROS including, but not limited to: distributor incentives, price promos, samplings, POS & trade marketing
- Keep finger on the pulse of market & business dynamics; optimize plans accordingly
Distributor Development
- Create plan for distribution expansion
- Meet with and sign new wholesalers in new markets
- Setup launch planning, order planning, POD goals, and product portfolio
- Execute and recap new market launches
Distributor Management
- Meet regularly with distributor to review results and align on priorities
- Develop & present Annual Business Plans (ABPs)
- Roll-out and support execution of distributor-level programs
- Monitor distributor sales & inventory levels, recommending order quantities
Key Account Development
- Develop relationships with key chains
- Sell in incremental placements and programs
- Identify, evaluate, and execute on high ROI programs
- Work with team & distributors to ensure execution of chain programs
Team Management
- Identify sales team needs; drive hiring & development of sales team
- Manage the daily operations of the sales team to achieve results
- Set quantifiable bonus targets to drive business results
- Foster an adaptable, competitive, and consumer-oriented team
Sales Tracking & Forecasting
- Regularly monitor & analyze sales results via VIP to identify opportunities
- Maintain a rolling 60+ day sales forecast to support production planning
Technology
- Identify sales team needs; drive hiring & development of sales team
- Manage the daily operations of the sales team to achieve results
- Set quantifiable bonus targets to drive business results
- Foster an adaptable, competitive, and consumer-oriented team
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of Director Level Sales Experience
- Beverage Industry Experience Required
- Experience building and utilizing VIP
- An advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel, Dropbox, Gmail, and Google Docs
- Familiarity with Apple Ecosystem and Click Up a Plus
- Cicerone Certified a Plus
- BS in Business Related Discipline or Equivalent Work Experience
- MBA a plus
Physical and Travel Requirements:
- Frequent car travel; occasional flights
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Tasting of alcoholic beverages for quality control
- Regular visits to bars, restaurants, liquor stores, and other hospitality establishments
- Installation of marketing materials which could require using stools or ladders, lifting, bending, and stretching
- Being present in-person in one place for multiple hours in accordance with branded event guidelines
- Brewery is based in Philadelphia, PA – The candidate should be located in close proximity to the brewery with willingness to be at the brewery at least 1-2 days/week
Brewery Location & Environment:
Our Brewery and Corporate Office is located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, which is one of the coolest and most hip parts of the city. Local restaurants, shops, and bars are just a short walk away from the brewery.
Furthermore, you will be working directly with the company founders in a dynamic and creative environment, where innovative problem solving is encouraged.
