Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill a Director of Nursing position overseeing the facility. This position will work Monday through Friday, daytime hours and includes on-call responsibilities.
WRC is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and is a secure treatment facility that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and community. WRC has been honored as the 2022 National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) R. Scott Chavez Facility of the Year. This award is given to one of 500 hundred NCCHC-accredited facilities for quality and innovation in the correctional health care field. This recognition confirms the Wisconsin Resource Center as a leader in innovative mental health care, focused on furthering and enhancing wellness of the residents in their care. Position Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Health Services at WRC in accordance with philosophy and policies of WRC, DCTS, DHS, state and federal regulations, and contemporary nursing standards. Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership in the development, planning, and implementation of institution-wide National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards.
- Interacting and collaborating with all departments, staff, services, and programs to assure delivery of quality residential health care services and contributing to the overall administration of WRC as a member of the WRC Executive Management Team (EMT).
- Promoting a nondiscriminatory, welcoming, and inclusive work and living environment.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $116,480 and $133,120 per year, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule and range is 50/20. A 24-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether they are vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin. Eligible is defined as currently holding a license in another state and eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin.
- Experience working as a supervisor of licensed healthcare staff. Examples of duties performed include evaluating staff performance, hiring, coaching, and disciplining staff, managing staff workload, etc.
- Experience or training with ensuring staff compliance with national and state professional nursing standards of practice.
- Experience or training developing one’s own cultural humility and that of subordinates, creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment for, and working with, diverse populations of staff and patients
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience or training in meeting or maintaining health care accreditation standards (e.g., National Commission on Correctional Health Care)
- Experience or training in quality improvement methods and measures to evaluate and enhance health care program or systems.
- Experience collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team that includes both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.
- Experience working with psychiatric and/or incarcerated patients.
